You can use the spell table (enchantment table) to add special abilities to things, from unlimited durability to knockback attacks. You'll need a number of rare materials to make this table, so prepare yourself for an expedition.
Step
Part 1 of 3: Collecting Materials
Step 1. Mine diamonds
Diamonds are one of the rarest ores, which can only be found deep underground. For best results, look for this light blue ore in layers 5 through 12. Dig until you find the bedrock (unbreakable gray block), then count 5 to 12 blocks above it. Mine diamonds with an iron or gold pickaxe.
- But remember, never dig straight down. You can survive the pits and lava by mining "ladders".
- To make a spell table, you need two diamonds. To mine obsidian (you'll need 4 obsidian to make a spell table), you'll also need a diamond pickaxe. This means you need three more diamonds.
- Keep mining in layers 11 and 12 to avoid the lava.
Step 2. Make obsidian
Obsidian is a dark black block that only appears when flowing water meets lava. You can make your own obsidian by making a bucket out of three iron ingots. Dredge the lava with a bucket and pour it into a four-block hole. Stream water from a higher place so that it can flow down onto the lava. The lava will turn into obsidian.
Step 3. Mine four obsidian using a diamond pickaxe
Obsidian blocks will only produce craftable materials if you mine them with a diamond pickaxe.
Step 4. Find or create a book
You can destroy the bookshelves in the village library or fortifications to get books ready for use. Alternatively, make your own book:
- Kill the horse or cow until you get at least one skin.
- Cut three sugarcane reeds.
- Make paper from three sugarcane stalks. (Put the three cane reeds in a row.) It's a good idea to start growing sugar cane, as sugar cane is hard to find.
- To make a book, combine one skin with three papers. (Put the materials anywhere on the craft table, placing the paper in a separate box.)
Part 2 of 3: Creating and Placing the Spell Table
Step 1. Make a spell table
Choose a recipe to make a spell table, or combine the items below in the advanced crafting system on PC:
- Top row: blank, book, blank
- Middle row: diamond, obsidian, diamond
- Bottom row: obsidian, obsidian, obsidian
Step 2. Place your spell table
Place the spell table somewhere that has at least two blocks of space on three sides, in a room that is at least two blocks high. This leaves room for you to fix it with a bookshelf, as will be explained below.
Step 3. Make a bookshelf (optional)
Bookshelves placed close together can unlock more powerful spells than your spell table. To make a bookshelf, place three books in the middle row, then fill the remaining squares with boards.
This more powerful spell also requires more experience. Maybe you can skip this step if you are still at a low level
Step 4. Place your bookshelf
You need fifteen bookshelves to get the best spells. Each bookshelf should be arranged as follows:
- On the same level as the table, or exactly one block above it.
- Place an empty block right between the table and the bookshelf. Even snow or torches can thwart the resulting effect.
Part 3 of 3: Charming Objects
Step 1. Place the item you want to cast on the spell table
Open the spell interface using the spell table. You can put armor, books, bows, swords, or just about any tool on the spell table. It's in the left slot in the PC edition, and in the top slot in the Pocket Edition.
You can store spells in a book for later use with an anvil. Directly casting a spell on the equipment would be more efficient
Step 2. Place the blue on the other slot
In the latest version of Minecraft, each spell will cost 1, 2, or 3 blues. Place this gemstone in an empty slot on the crafting table.
Step 3. Choose one of the three spells
You'll know the name of the spell by hovering your mouse over an option. You also have the opportunity to add randomly selected additional spells.
- You can't rearrange the options provided before casting a spell on something. If the path to the bookshelf is blocked, a number of new options that are usually low-level will appear.
- Different types of objects have different spells.
Step 4. Understand the costs
On the spell table there are always three options. The top option is the weakest, and requires one blue and one experience level. The option in the middle requires two blues and two experience levels. The bottom option requires three blueberries and three experience levels.
The number next to each option represents the spell level. You must be at this level at least to be able to choose this option. This will not affect the amount of experience required
Tips
- If you can't get what you want with the spell recipe, update Minecraft to the latest version. The spell table was introduced by Minecraft Pocket Edition in version 0.12.1. The PC edition of Minecraft has gone through a lot of changes to charm things.
- There are certain tools that cannot be enchanted on this table, such as objects such as flint, steel and scissors. Some of these objects can be enchanted by first enchanting the book, then combining the enchanted book with your desired tool on the anvil.
