Business and personal relationships are now increasingly globalized along with the development of communication technology. Finally, many people need to make calls abroad, such as calling Germany. The process turned out to be easier than many people imagine, and the process for calling a mobile phone or landline user in Germany is the same.
Step
Method 1 of 3: Calling by Phone
Step 1. Enter the international phone code
This notifies your telephone company that you are calling overseas. The dialing code for America is 011.
By pressing 011, you indicate that your call is an international call. If you are calling with a cell phone, you can use the + sign instead of the 011 code
Step 2. Enter the country code
This is a code that tells your telephone company which country you want to call. The country code for Germany is 49.
Step 3. Enter the main number with the area code
Enter the phone number of the person you want to call. Make sure the number given to you does not include the area code or country code.
Enter numbers carefully, and make sure all numbers are entered correctly
Step 4. Wait for the waiting tone
You may take some time to connect.
Method 2 of 3: Finding Phone Number
Step 1. Find the number you want to call
If you don't already know the number you need to call, you'll need to find the number, either through the website, through the phone book, or from the family member or friend you're trying to call.
Step 2. Make sure the area code is included in the number
The area code is 2-5 digits long. A phone number without an area code is 3-9 digits long. Generally, the number you dial is 9 digits long, so if the number is only 9 digits long, you will have to find the area code.
What you can do is look for the area code for the area you want to call and match it with a few digits of the phone number you have
Step 3. Check the desired phone number
International calls are usually quite expensive, so calling the wrong number can be very expensive. If the telephone number you want cannot be obtained from the person or company you wish to call, international telephone directories (both residential or corporate) are available on the internet.
Method 3 of 3: Calling Via Skype
Step 1. Install Skype
This program can be downloaded from the official website for free, it can even be installed on your cellphone!
Step 2. Purchase Skype Credit from Skype or subscribe to Skype
Calling to the phone costs less than calling from the phone.
Step 3. Get a microphone and headphones if desired
If you use a computer instead of a phone, you need to have both to be able to hear each other.
Step 4. Find the phone number as explained above
You still need a phone number to make calls with Skype.
Step 5. Open the dialer and enter the number
Open the program and click the button to call (on the left). Enter the number and click the Call button. Before you do that, the phone will not start. Enjoy your conversation and hang up by pressing the Hang-up button when you're done.
Tips
- When calling Germany from a fixed line, look for long distance calling rates from various companies to take advantage of the cheapest rates. Many long distance calling service providers provide dialing codes that allow users from other operators to use their service and be billed through their phone bill.
- If you need or want operator assistance, code 01 can be used instead of code 011. The rest of the calling guidelines remain the same. Once connected, listen and follow the operator's guide.
- When calling Germany from a cell phone, make sure the battery and signal are sufficient before calling and avoid movement to avoid dropped calls which can be very expensive.
