Alfredo sauce originates from Rome, Italy, and is made from a blend of soft butter, parmesan cheese and heavy cream. It's possible to have this sauce canned in stores, but you can make your own at home with just a few ingredients and a little time. Make your own Alfredo sauce by preparing the ingredients, cooking and then serving it with your favorite food.
Step
Method 1 of 3: Preparing Materials
Step 1. Measure out 2 tablespoons (about 30 ml) of butter
You can use salted or unsalted butter, according to taste. Do not use margarine or butter substitutes. Real butter is essential in alfredo sauce.
Step 2. Pour 1 cup of whipped cream into a bowl or measuring cup
Step 3. Grate 1/2 cup of parmesan cheese
You may want to use this cheese as a topping on your pasta or any food you eat with Alfredo sauce.
Try using fresh parmesan cheese. It may be easier to buy grated, but it tastes a lot better if you buy chunks of cheese and grate it yourself
Step 4. Take the salt and pepper
The amount you add to the sauce depends on your preference.
Method 2 of 3: Making the Sauce
Step 1. Melt the butter in a saucepan over medium heat
Make sure the butter doesn't burn or scorch. Alfredo sauce is white, so watch the butter as it melts
Step 2. Slowly pour the cream into the pan
Stir the sauce with a wooden spoon while pouring the cream.
Step 3. Add salt and butter to the mixture to season it
Step 4. Bring to a boil
When it boils, reduce the heat and let the sauce simmer slowly.
Step 5. Stir the sauce with a wooden spoon to thicken the sauce and heat over low heat for 5 minutes
Step 6. Remove the pan from the stove
This is an important step before adding cheese, as the cheese will clump if you put it in the pan while it's still heating up.
Step 7. Add the parmesan cheese to the mixture and continue to stir with a spoon
Mix the cheese evenly into the sauce.
Step 8. Taste the sauce and add salt and pepper if you like
Method 3 of 3: Serving Alfredo Sauce
Step 1. Mix the warm sauce with the pasta
The most famous dish is Fettuccine Alfredo. You can use any pasta.
Step 2. Use this sauce on bread and pizza
You can add any toppings.
Step 3. Coat chicken, shrimp, meatballs, with alfredo sauce
This sauce can be added to pasta or eaten directly as a snack.
