This wikiHow teaches you how to block someone on Facebook so they can't find, view, or contact your Facebook account. This process can be followed through the Facebook mobile app version and the desktop site. If you accidentally block someone, you can unblock them at any time.

Method 1 of 2: Via Mobile App
Step 1. Open Facebook
This app is marked by a white “f” icon on a dark blue background. After that, a Facebook news feed page will open if you are logged into your account on your phone or tablet.
If you're not logged into your account, enter your email address (or phone number) and password to continue
Step 2. Touch
It's in the lower-right corner of the screen (iPhone) or in the upper-right corner of the screen (Android).
Step 3. Scroll to the screen and touch Settings (“Settings”)
It's at the bottom of the page.
Skip this step for Android device users
Step 4. Touch Account Settings (“Account Settings”)
This option will take you to the “Account Settings” page.
On Android devices, you'll need to scroll through the screen before you find an option
Step 5. Touch Blocking (“Blocking”)
It's in the second group of options, at the bottom of the screen.
For phones with small screens, you may need to swipe the screen first
Step 6. Touch the name field
This field is a box labeled " Type a name or email " at the top of the screen.
Step 7. Type in the name of the user you want to block, then tap Block ("Block")
After that, you will be taken to a confirmation page.
If you have the user's email address, you can also type in that address
Step 8. Tap Block ("Block") next to the profile you want to block
Facebook will display several profiles that match the name you typed. Touch the button “ Block ” to the right of the user you want to block.
Step 9. Touch Block ("Block") when prompted
It's a blue button at the bottom of the page. After that, the selected user will be blocked.
Method 2 of 2: Via Desktop Site
Step 1. Visit the Facebook website
Go to https://www.facebook.com in your preferred browser. After that, the news feed page will be displayed if you are logged in to your Facebook account.
If you're not logged into your account, enter your email address (or phone number) and password before continuing
Step 2. Click
It's in the top-right corner of the Facebook page. Once clicked, a drop-down menu will appear.
Step 3. Click Settings (“Settings”)
It's at the bottom of the drop-down menu.
Step 4. Click Blocking (“Blocking”)
This tab is on the left side of the “Settings” page.
Step 5. Click the name field
This field is a text box labeled " Add name or email " under the " Block users " heading.
Step 6. Type in the corresponding username, then click Block (“Block”)
If you know the email address, you can also enter that address.
Step 7. Click Block ("Block") next to the user you want to block
Facebook will display a list of users that match the name you entered. Click the button Block ” next to the appropriate profile.
Step 8. Click Block [Name] (“Block [Name]”) when prompted
It's a blue button at the bottom of the pop-up window. After that, the user in question will be added to the list of blocked users.
Tips
- You can also block someone on Facebook by visiting their profile page, selecting the “ … ” at the top of the profile page, and click the option “ Block ” (“Block”) in the displayed menu.
- Before blocking someone, try to unfollow them so you don't have to see the updates they upload.
