This wikiHow teaches you how to set up a new Google Voice account on your computer, Android device, iPhone, and iPad.

Method 1 of 3: Using a Computer
Step 1. Visit the Google Voice website
The Google Voice registration page will open.
You need a Google account and a US-based phone number to sign up for Google Voice
Step 2. Click SIGN IN
You can find it in the top right corner. If you're not signed in to your Google account yet, sign in by following the onscreen instructions.
Step 3. Read the terms of service and privacy policy, then click CONTINUE
By clicking Continue, means that you agree to the terms of Google.
Step 4. Type in the area or city code
The screen will display the available phone numbers at that location.
Step 5. Click a phone number to claim it
After claiming the number, a notification will appear with the words "You've selected (phone number)".
Step 6. Click VERIFY
A pop-up will be displayed, asking for your US-based number.
Step 7. Type in the phone number, then click SEND CODE
You will receive a verification code via text message.
If you want to verify the number by phone call, select verify by phone, and follow the instructions given on the screen.
Step 8. Type in the verification code, then click VERIFY
A confirmation message will appear, letting you know that incoming calls to your Google Voice number will be routed to your existing number.
Step 9. Click FINISH
This will complete the registration process, and a confirmation page containing your new number will be displayed.
Step 10. Click FINISH on the confirmation page

Method 2 of 3: Using iPhone and iPad
Step 1. Download Google Voice on the App Store
If you don't have Google Voice installed, get the app by following these steps:

Iphoneappstoreicon - Touch Search in the lower right corner of the screen.
- Tap the gray search bar at the top.
- Type in google voice and touch the Search button.
- Touch GET next to "Google Voice".
- Install the app by following the instructions given on the screen.
Step 2. Run Google Voice
If it's still in the App Store, touch OPEN next to "Google Voice". Or, tap the white icon containing a turquoise conversation bubble with a white phone inside. This icon is on the home screen.
Step 3. Touch GET STARTED
It's at the bottom of the screen.
Step 4. Sign in to your Google account
If you are not logged into your Google account yet, sign in now by following the on-screen instructions.
If you've already signed in to your iPhone using a Google account (or more than one account), swipe the switch next to the account name to the On position to continue
Step 5. Read the terms and privacy policy, then touch ACCEPT
This is to confirm that you understand the terms of use of Google Voice.
Step 6. Touch SEARCH
It's in the lower-right corner.
Step 7. Enter the area or city code
The phone numbers available at that location will be displayed.
Step 8. Touch SELECT next to the number you want to use
This will bring up a confirmation message.
Step 9. Touch NEXT
After selecting a phone number, verify the number you currently have.
Step 10. Touch NEXT
The “Enter a number to link” screen will be displayed.
Step 11. Type in your existing phone number, then tap SEND CODE
You will get a confirmation code sent to the number you entered.
Step 12. Type in the verification code, then touch VERIFY
This will bring up a confirmation message.
Step 13. Confirm by touching CLAIM
Now your new Google Voice phone number is ready.
Step 14. Complete the account setup by following the instructions given on the screen
When your account is set up, you can use Google Voice to call any number in the US for free.
Method 3 of 3: Using Android Device
Step 1. Get Google Voice on Play Store
If you don't have Google Voice installed, get the app by following these steps:

open Play Store
Androidgoogleplay - Type google voice into the search field, then press Enter.
- Touch INSTALL next to "Google Voice."
- Complete the installation by following the instructions given on the screen.
Step 2. Run Google Voice
If you are still in the Play Store, touch OPEN. When it's out, tap the turquoise conversation bubble with the white phone inside. You can find it in the app drawer or home screen.
Step 3. Sign in to your Google account
If you have multiple accounts, select the account you want to use for Google Voice.
Step 4. Read the terms and conditions, then tap Continue
This is to confirm that you understand the terms of use of Google Voice.
Step 5. Touch SEARCH
It's in the lower-right corner.
Step 6. Type in the area or city code
The phone numbers available at that location will be displayed.
Step 7. Touch SELECT next to the desired phone number
Instructions for verifying your new phone number will appear.
Step 8. Verify the US based phone number
To set up Google Voice, you must have a US-based phone number. Enter the phone number, then follow the instructions provided to verify the account.
Step 9. Complete the account setup by following the instructions given on the screen
When your account is set up, you can use Google Voice to call anyone's phone number in the US for free.
