Yahoo! Mail is one of the most popular free email services in the world. However, this service has been littered with ad banners that are quite large and annoying for a long time. The website manager does need to cover the cost of the free service, but the ads shown on Yahoo! It seems to have been "too late". If you feel that Yahoo! Mail has gone too far with the ads it displays, you can disable the ad banner in almost any browser.

Method 1 of 4: Chrome
Step 1. For AdBlock extension
This extension is designed to block ads on websites, and will block all ad banners that appear in Yahoo! Mail.
- Click the Chrome menu button (☰).
- Select " More tools " → " Extensions ".
- Click the " Get more extensions " link at the bottom of the page.
- Search for the extension by typing the search keyword "AdBlock".
- Click the + Free button next to the AdBlock extension, then click Add.
Step 2. Configure AdBlock to block ads on Yahoo
Mail.
AdBlock is usually properly configured when installed, but there's nothing wrong with checking the extension's configuration again.
- Click the AdBlock button next to the Chrome menu button.
- Select "Options". After that, a new tab will open.
- Click the "Filter Lists" option and make sure the "EasyList" option is checked.
Step 3. Reopen Yahoo
Mail.
If you leave your Yahoo! opens when installing AdBlock, you need to close and reopen your browser for AdBlock to work.
Method 2 of 4: Firefox
Step 1. Download the Adblock Plus extension
This extension works to block ads on websites. With the right configuration, this extension can block all ad banners that appear in your Yahoo! Mail.
- Click the Firefox menu button (☰).
- Select "Add-ons".
- Use the search keyword "Adblock Plus" to find the extension.
- Click the Install button next to Adblock Plus.
Step 2. Configure Adblock Plus
Usually, just installing Adblock Plus is enough to “get rid of” ads on Yahoo! Mail. However, there are some settings that you need to double check to make sure the extension can block all ads properly.
- Click the "ABP" button next to the Firefox menu button.
- Select "Filter Preferences".
- Make sure the "EasyList" option is checked.
- Uncheck the "Allow some non-intrusive advertising" option.
Step 3. Reopen Yahoo

If you leave your Yahoo! opens when installing AdBlock Plus, you need to close and reopen your browser for AdBlock Plus to work properly.
Step 4. Try a different extension
"Yahoo Mail Hide Ad Panel" is another popular extension that only blocks ads displayed on Yahoo! Mail. What sets it apart from AdBlock is that "Yahoo Mail Hide Ad Panel" will replace the free space occupied by ads with other elements. You can install "Yahoo Mail Hide Ad Panel" using the same method as described in the first step.
This extension is only available for Firefox
Method 3 of 4: Internet Explorer
Step 1. Visit the Adblock Plus website
Internet Explorer doesn't offer Adblock Plus via an extension manager so you need to install it directly from the AdBlock Plus website (adblockplus.org).
Step 2. Click the "Install for Internet Explorer" button
Step 3. Click the Run button shown at the bottom of the page
After that, the installation process will begin. Internet Explorer will be closed during the process.
Follow the prompts that appear to install the extension
Step 4. Restart Internet Explorer
After the installation is complete, you can restart Internet Explorer.
Step 5. Click the Enable button at the bottom of the page to activate Adblock Plus
You may need to restart Internet Explorer one more time.
Step 6. Reopen Yahoo
Mail.
Once Adblock Plus is up and running, you can re-open your Yahoo! Mail. Now, all the ads on the Yahoo! Mail will be hidden.
Method 4 of 4: Safari
Step 1. Open the Safari extensions page
On this page, you can download AdBlock, an extension that is useful for hiding all ads when you are surfing the internet.
Click the menu " Safari ”, then select "Safari Extensions".
Step 2. Find and download AdBlock
You can usually find AdBlock on the Safari extensions welcome page (Safari Extensions). If you don't see it, you can look it up yourself. Click the "Install Now" link to download and install it.
After a few moments, a new tab will open and display the AdBlock installation progress bar
Step 3. Click the " AdBlock " button which is next to the address bar
Select "Options" from the displayed menu.
Step 4. Click the "Filter Lists" tab
Make sure "EasyList" is selected. This list may block advertisements displayed on Yahoo!.
Step 5. Reopen Yahoo
Mail.
