This wikiHow teaches you how to print text messages (SMS) from your Android phone for free. You need a computer that is connected to a printer to do this. You can use the SMS Backup + app to back up short messages to your Gmail inbox and print them afterwards, or take a screenshot of the message and print it from your Google Drive folder on your computer.

Method 1 of 2: Using SMS Backup App +
Step 1. Download SMS Backup+ app
The SMS Backup + application allows you to create folders in your Gmail account inbox and back up text messages on your device so you can easily print text messages from your computer. open
Google Play Store, then follow these steps:
- Touch the search bar.
- Type backup sms +
- Touch " SMS Backup + ”.
- Touch " INSTALL ”.
- Choose " ACCEPT ' when prompted.
Step 2. Open SMS Backup+
Touch the button “ OPEN ” in the Google Play Store window, or touch the SMS Backup + app icon displayed on the device's page/app drawer.
Step 3. Touch OK when prompted
After that, you will be taken to the main page of the application.
Step 4. Connect the app with Gmail account
Touch the button “ Connect ” in the middle of the page, select a Google account, touch “ ALLOW ” when prompted, and touch “ Backup ” after the command is displayed. With this option, the app will be linked to a Google account and back up all text messages present on the device to that account.
Step 5. Back up the existing text messages
If you don't see the option to back up text messages to the connected Gmail account, tap the “ Backup ” at the top of the screen, then wait for the backup process to complete.

Step 6. Open the Gmail inbox on the computer
Go to https://www.gmail.com/ in your computer's web browser, then enter your email address and password if prompted to sign in.
If the site shows a different Gmail account inbox than the one you want, click the profile photo circle in the top right corner of the inbox, click “ Add account ”, and log in using the appropriate account.
Step 7. Click the SMS folder
This folder is on the left side of your Gmail inbox. You may need to click on the link “ More labels ” on the left side of the window first. After that, the “SMS Backup +” folder containing text messages from the device will be opened.
Step 8. Open a text chat
Click the text chat you want to print. After that, the most recent text messages in the chat will be displayed.
Text messages will be backed up by contact name. For example, if you have 100 messages in your chat window with someone named Sarah, you might see an email thread with the subjects " SMS with Sarah " and " (100) " next to their name
Step 9. Click the "Print" icon
It's in the upper-right corner of the email window, to the far right of the subject line. After that, the printing window will be opened.
Step 10. Print the text message chat
Select a printer if necessary, review the print settings to make sure color preferences and paper orientation are correct, and click the “ Print As long as the computer is connected to the printer, Android text messages from the selected chat thread will be printed.
Method 2 of 2: Using Screenshots
Step 1. Open the messaging app on the Android device (“Messages”)
Touch the Messages app icon to open it. After that, a list of currently existing chats will be displayed.
This method can be followed for any messaging app, including apps like WhatsApp, Facebook Messenger, Google Voice, and others
Step 2. Select chat
Touch the chat thread with the message you want to print. After that, a chat window will be opened.
Step 3. Take a screenshot of the chat
You may need to swipe up or down on the screen to properly display or “frame” messages in a chat.
Step 4. Take screenshots of other parts of the chat
Once you've taken a screenshot of the entire section of the conversation that you want to print, you can move on to the next step.
Step 5. Open Google Drive
Tap the Google Drive app icon, which looks like a yellow, green, and blue triangle.
Step 6. Touch
It's in the lower-right corner of the main Google Drive page. After that, a pop-up menu will be displayed.
Step 7. Touch Upload
This option is in the pop-up menu.
Step 8. Touch Screenshots album
This album is in the list of photo upload source locations.
Step 9. Select the screenshot of the previously captured text message
Press and hold a screenshot, then touch the other screenshots you want to print.
Step 10. Touch OPEN
It's in the upper-right corner of the screen. After that, the selected screenshots will be uploaded to Google Drive.
Step 11. Open Google Drive via computer
Go to https://drive.google.com/ through your computer's web browser, then sign in using your Google account email address and password if prompted.
If the site displays a different Gmail account than the one you want, click the profile picture circle in the upper right corner of your inbox, click “ Add account ”, and log in using the appropriate account.
Step 12. Select a screenshot
While holding down Ctrl (Windows) or Command (Mac), click each screenshot that you want to download.
Step 13. Download the screenshot to the computer
Click the “⋮” button in the top right corner of the Google Drive page, then click “ Download ” in the drop-down menu.
Step 14. Open and extract the ZIP folder
This process will depend on your computer's operating system (eg Windows or Mac):
- Windows – Double-click the screenshot ZIP folder, click the “tab” Extract ”, click option “ Extract all ", click " Extract ”, and wait for the extracted folder to open.
- Mac – Double-click the screenshot ZIP folder, then wait for the extracted folder to open.
Step 15. Select a screenshot
Click one of the screenshots, then press the Ctrl+A (Windows) or Command+A (Mac) key combination to select each file.
Step 16. Open the "Print" menu
