Moving one eye at a time can create the illusion that you look like a superhuman. With a little time and effort, anyone can learn this skill. Stretch the muscles in your face to execute this movement properly. Additionally, you'll need to be able to squint your eyes to try this trick.
Step
Method 1 of 3: Warming up
Step 1. Warm up the facial muscles
Warming up the face will make the muscles in the face ready for action. Some of these muscles function to regulate eye movement coordination. So, by warming up, you have a better chance of moving one eye. To warm up, follow these steps:
- Gently massage your entire face with your hands while rubbing it in small circular motions. Give a special massage to the area around your eyes.
- Open your mouth wide. Open your eyes and mouth, and raise your eyebrows as high as possible. After that, frown as much as possible.
Step 2. Warm up the eye area
Now, after the facial muscles are "hot", you can warm up the eyes. Roll your eyeballs a few times. Face forward and straighten your neck, then move your eyeballs firmly to the left. Switch to the right, then move up and down with the neck and face unchanged.
Squinting is a great way to warm up, and it's also helpful for practicing moving one eye. If you can't do that, the following tips might help
Step 3. Learn how to squint, if necessary
Some people may be able to squint while warming up. However, there's no need to worry if you haven't mastered this skill. With a little effort, you can definitely do it.
- Practice squinting by looking at the tip of your nose with both eyes. Gently direct your gaze to the tip of your nose while looking inward.
- Hold a pen and place it between your eyes while extending your arms in front of you. Focus on staring at the pen and slowly bring the pen to your face until it is about 5 to 10 cm apart. At this point, your eyes should be crossed.
- This technique may force you to move muscles that are rarely used so that your face feels tired. If you're tired, take a break and try again another time. This usually takes a while, but you'll get used to it eventually!
Step 4. Watch your eyes move in front of the mirror
Squint in front of the mirror to check if you have mastered this technique. How do your eyes look? When in doubt, ask a friend or family member back home for an opinion.
- If you don't have a mirror or no one at home can help you, take a selfie.
- The ability to squint will make it easier for you to master the skill to move one eye.
Method 2 of 3: Squinting One Eye
Step 1. Move the eyeball left or right
Regardless of the direction you choose, you should hold this position for a few seconds.
Step 2. Squint the eyes that are facing the outside of the face
If you're looking to the right, you need to move your right eye. If you are looking to the left, move your eyes to the left. While holding the eye facing inward, move the other eye until the position of the eye changes to a squint.
Use an object to guide the position of the moving eye. Extend your arms out to the sides and use one finger to guide your outward-facing eye. Focus on looking at the finger with the closest eye. Move your finger toward the center of your nose and make sure your eyes follow the movement
Step 3. Return to the original position
Repeat the above process in reverse so that the eyes return to the side. For example, if you're looking to your left, you should look to your left again after squinting your eyes.
Practice doing this a few times for each side before working the other eye
Step 4. Train the other eye
Now you know how to train your eyes. As you get used to this maneuver, try doing it on the other eye without providing a finger as a guide. If it's still difficult, use your finger again to guide the eye.
Method 3 of 3: Moving One Eye from a Squint Position
Step 1. Squint your eyes
It is time to enjoy the results of the previous eye exercises. Squint using a pen or finger as a guide, if necessary. After successfully squinting, hold this position for a few seconds.
Take a break so you don't get sore
Step 2. Get one eye to move with a finger
Keep your eyes crossed. Now, position your index finger in front of your eyes on the same side of your body. For example, the index finger of the right hand should be in front of the right eye. Without moving your left eye, try to focus on that finger. Slowly move your fingers to the side and follow the movement with your eyes on the same side.
You can try positioning your fingers so that they are only visible to the eye on the same side of your body. Try to position your fingers slightly away from your face
Step 3. Return your eyes to a squint position and repeat
Turn the eye position like all. Move the eyeball in the opposite direction so that the position is crossed again as before.
To perform this movement, you will need to repeat a few times on one eye before switching to the other
Step 4. Practice to master this skill
The more you practice, the easier it will be to do it. Exercise both eyes and move them back and forth alternately. Try to move your eyes without using the bait. If it's still difficult, imagine imagining a finger guiding your eye movements.
