Part 1 of 3: Getting Romantic Interest Status
Step 1. Choose a partner
Your Sim will be attracted to other Sims if he has a personality and interests that match them. Two Sims who have opposite Traits (Sim personalities) can still get married. However, both Sims need a long time to fall in love with each other and they may not be able to live happily ever after if they get married.
- Find a potential partner in the right place. For example, if your Sim likes to read, look for a potential mate at a bookstore or library.
- Sim's romantic relationship will improve faster if he has one of the following Traits: Charismatic, Friendly, Flirty, or Hopeless Romantic. Sims who have Trait Commitment Issues or Unflirty will have difficulty finding a partner. However, he can still get a partner even if it takes longer.
Step 2. Learn about teenage romantic relationships
If you want two teenagers to date, there are a few things to know:
- Teen Sims can have romantic relationships with other teens. However, they cannot marry until they enter the Young Adult phase.
- When a teenage Sim enters the Young Adult phase, the romantic relationship with their teenage partner will disappear. Your Sim can continue the romantic relationship when the partner grows into a Young Adult.
- If your partner is still in high school, you won't be able to marry him because he won't grow up.
Step 3. Upgrade Charisma's abilities (optional)
You should improve Charisma's abilities so that you can open up new conversation options and increase your chances of marrying a potential partner. Plus, get Lifetime Rewards that help you improve your romantic relationship with your partner, such as Attractive and Never Dull.
Step 4. Befriend other Sims
Choose one of your Sims and make them interact socially with other Sims. The Sims 3 offers a ton of social interaction options. Start social interaction by having a conversation. After that, have other social interactions that improve your Sim's relationship with other Sims. You may face some obstacles when interacting socially with other Sims. However, you don't need to worry because your Sim only needs to meet a few times until he and the other Sims have Acquaintance status and then Friend status.
- Choose a talk option that matches the other Sim's Trait. For example, a Sim who has a Trait Vehicle Enthusiast likes to talk about cars and a Sim who has a Trait Technophobe doesn't like to talk about electronic devices.
- Relationship meter will decrease over time. Invite your Sim home the next day to keep the momentum going.
Step 5. Use the Ask if Single option. The Ask if Single option (ask another Sim if he is single or not) in the Romance menu can be used even if your Sim and the other Sim are not yet friends. Try using this option to find out the Sim's relationship status. Sims who have romantic relationships with other Sims will be more difficult to seduce.
If you manage to end the relationship between two Sims, their Relationship meter will decrease drastically. Think carefully whether this action is worth the result or not
Step 6. Try a romantic interaction
Almost all romantic interactions (interactions available on the Romance menu) will not have any effect if you don't have Friend status with other Sims (Relationship meter must be filled around 40% to get this status). Once you have this status, you can engage in romantic interactions by using the following options:
- Compliment Personality
- Compliment Appearance
- Flirt
Step 7. Watch the Sim's reaction
If another Sim reacts positively, you'll get a message that he thinks you're Flirty. After getting the message, proceed with the romantic interaction with caution. Rushing into a romantic relationship can discourage other Sims from interacting with you. Even if you get a message that another Sim sees your Sim going Alluring, you should use the basic social interaction options.
Step 8. Get Romantic Interest status. If you have had a romantic interaction with another Sim and the Relationship meter has increased, invite the Sim back home. Have romantic interactions until you get the message that your Sim is Alluring. This will open up new romantic interaction options:
- Try bonding by choosing the Gaze into Eyes, Embrace, or Whisper in Ear options.
- If all interactions go smoothly, try selecting the First Kiss, Confess Attraction, or Massage options. You will get Romantic Interest status after doing this step.
Part 2 of 3: Married
Step 1. Continue to improve your relationship with your partner
After doing the previous steps, you'll probably understand basic romantic interactions and what other Sims like. Try to have romantic interactions every day without rushing.
Step 2. Have a romantic interaction until you get the message that you are becoming Irresistible. If you're meeting a potential partner, continue to engage in romantic interactions until you get the message that he or she thinks you're irresistible. This will open up new romantic interaction options that will help you improve your relationship towards marriage.
Step 3. Select the Propose Going Steady option. This option will make another Sim your girlfriend. Romantic interactions will be easier to do if you are already dating him. Plus, you don't have to do a lot of social interactions and romantic interactions to unlock other romantic interaction options.
If you already have a boyfriend, you should stop having romantic interactions with other Sims as this will ruin your relationship with your boyfriend
Step 4. Continue to improve your relationship with your partner
Try selecting the Make Out and Leap into Arms options. If you and your partner are near the bed or other items, you can choose the Woohoo option as well. Some Sims will immediately Woohoo, while other Sims may be reluctant to do so. However, this interaction does not have to be done for marriage.
Step 5. Choose the Propose Marriage option. This option will appear when you get a message that you are becoming Irresistible. You can choose the Propose Marriage option (apply for a Sim) repeatedly even if your partner rejects your application. However, you should spend enough time building up your relationship with him before proposing to make sure he accepts your proposal.
Step 6. Have a wedding party
To get married in an instant, select the Romantic menu and then choose the Have Private Wedding option. To host a wedding, use the Sim's mobile phone that is engaged and select the Throw a Party option. After that, choose the Wedding Party option. Once married, you can move your spouse into your home.

Part 3 of 3: Using Cheat Codes
Step 1. Know the risks of using cheat codes
This step will explain the use of cheat codes as well as the risks. Using a cheat code will activate a special mode that the developer uses to test the game. This mode activates many additional interaction options. However, if you don't use it properly, this mode can damage the game system. Your game save file may also be permanently damaged.
Step 2. Know the benefits of using cheat codes
There are two reasons why you should use cheats:
- You can make two Sims get Best Friends status in an instant so you can immediately have a romantic interaction.
- If you get a bug that stops the game while you're trying to move your partner home, this bug can be dealt with with a cheat code.
Step 3. Open the cheat console (cheat console)
Press Control + Shift + C at the same time to open the cheats console that appears at the top of the screen.

Step 6. Put the Sim into the house
If you're trying to deal with a bug that appears when you're moving a Sim, press and hold down Shift and click the Sim you want to put in the house. You will see a new option appear on the menu. Select the Add to active household option.

Step 7. Disable Testing Cheats. As previously explained, Testing Cheats opens options that can damage the game system. Reopen the cheat code console by pressing the key (Control + Shift + C) and typing TestingCheatsEnabled false.
After that, press Enter.
Tips
- Heterosexual and homosexual couples can marry. Homosexual couples cannot have biological babies. However, they can adopt children.
- Your Sim doesn't need to marry another Sim if you want to WooHoo with him. However, your Relationship meter with him must be high to be able to do this.
- You can divorce your spouse by selecting the Break up option on the Mean menu. This can drastically reduce your Relationship meter with him. In addition, this also changes the status of you and your partner to be ex-husband or ex-wife. However, your ex-spouse will stay at home until you kick him out.
- If you don't have good romantic interaction skills and another Sim already has a partner, getting Best Friends status will be easier to obtain by doing the interactions available on the Friendly menu. After getting the option to invite other Sims to live with you (Ask to Move In), you can control the Sim to divorce their partner. After that, you can have a romantic interaction with him.
- If you have the right expansion pack, the Sim can marry a ghost (Ghost), SimBot, or a Sim that becomes a mummy (Mummy).
Warning
- When a Sim has a romantic relationship with someone, he promises to be loyal to her forever. If your partner catches you having an affair, your relationship meter with him will decrease significantly. Also, you and your partner can become enemies if you have an affair with another Sim.
