A crown is the perfect accessory for any occasion--whether you're celebrating a birthday or something else. Paper crowns are great for drama, while fresh flower crowns can complete your look on a summer picnic. Or alternatively, fabric flower crowns are perfect for special occasions, such as birthdays and weddings.

Step

Method 1 of 3: Making a Crown out of Patterned Paper

Step 1. Find, download and print the crown pattern

Click the crown pattern above, or browse the internet for other patterns. Look for "king's crown pattern" or "crown pattern". After finding a suitable pattern, download the document. Print the pattern at home, the library, or at the printery.

Step 2. Cut out the crown pattern

Prepare the scissors. Follow the pattern lines and cut them carefully. If you are making crowns with children, help and supervise them while doing this step. If your crown pattern consists of 2 parts, align the edges, staple them, or glue them together.

Step 3. Copy the pattern on the paper and cut the crown according to the pattern

Decide on the paper you will use to make the crown. You can use cardboard, cardboard, or even wrapping paper to make them! Place the paper face-in--the side that will not be visible from the front of your crown. Use a pencil to copy the pattern onto paper. When you're done, remove the basic pattern and trim your crown.

Step 4. Arrange your crown

Measure the length of the crown. Cut a piece of cardboard or fabric to the length of the crown and between 2.5-4 cm wide. Align the base of the sheet with the base of the crown. Glue this sheet to the "inside" of the crown with glue. This cardboard or fabric will strengthen the shape of the crown and prevent it from tearing. Allow the glue to dry.

Step 5. Decorate your crown

You can decorate the crown in any way! Use markers, crayons, or colored pencils to make interesting drawings. Make your crown look sparkly with beads and sequins. Sprinkle glitter decorations on top. Channel your creativity! After that, let everything dry.

Step 6. Try on a crown size, and put it on

Place the crown around the head of the prospective wearer. The ends of the crowns should overlap each other. Mark the overlapping areas with a pencil. Remove the crown from the head. Join the ends of the crown according to the pencil marks, then attach a stapler or glue them together. Let the glue dry before putting on the crown!

Method 2 of 3: Making a Flower Crown

Step 1. Prepare the ingredients

For this craft, you will need garden shears or sharp scissors, floral tape, and floral wire. You'll also need an elastic band of wire and a roll of plain string or ribbon.

Step 2. Select and prepare flowers

Choose 2 or 3 types of flowers for your crown. Roses, daisies, violets, tulips, and lavenders make great crowns! Choose 1 or 2 filler flowers. Try using fresh gypsophila or pine flowers. Cut 8 to 12 flower stems and filler flowers. Make sure that the stem is about 7.5 cm long.

Step 3. Cut, measure, and loop a piece of wire covered with elastic cord

Wrap an elasticated wire wrapped around your head. Place your finger where the ends meet. Take scissors and cut this elastic cord. Take one end of the elastic and make a circle 2.5 cm in diameter. Tie the elastic straps together by tying them 3 to 4 times so they don't slide around easily. Make another loop at the other end.

In the next step, you will thread a piece of yarn or ribbon through these two loops

Step 4. Arrange and glue the flower arrangement

Bring 4 or 6 flower stems and filler flowers together to form a flower arrangement. Make sure this little flower arrangement looks beautiful from all sides. Put the flower arrangement together at the base. Apply tape to secure the ends of the flower stems. Make 6 to 7 quirky little flower arrangements like this one.

Step 5. Attach the first flower arrangement to the elastic

Take an elastic string with loops at both ends. Place 1 flower arrangement parallel to the string--the stem end of the flower arrangement should be at the end of the loop on the elastic. Attach the stem of the flower arrangement to the elastic with a piece of wire.

In order for the floral tape to stick, you'll need to pull it slightly

Step 6. Attach another flower arrangement

Pair the flower arrangement from right to left, placing the new flower arrangement next to the previously paired flower arrangement. Attach the stem of the flower arrangement to the elastic with a piece of wire. Continue attaching the flower arrangement to the elastic until it reaches the other end.

Step 7. Thread the string or ribbon into the loop

Cut 60 cm of ribbon or rope. Thread this string or ribbon through both loops and tie a loose knot of ribbon. Put the crown on your head, and adjust the size. After adjusting the crown to your head, tie the ribbon or string tightly. Put on your fresh flower crown!

Step 1. Prepare the ingredients

For this craft, you will need sharp scissors, wire shears, floral wire, and floral tape. You should also purchase and arrange fabric flowers. You can choose any flower you like. Roses, gypsophila, peonies, poppies, daisies, dahlias, and lamb's ear are all beautiful choices!

Step 2. Adjust the crown to your head

Unroll the floral wire. Gently wrap it around your head. The ends of the wires should overlap by 7, 5-10 cm. Remove the wire from your head and cut it. Wrap the wire to form a circle.

Step 3. Prepare the fabric flowers

Take your scissors and fabric flower. Cut off the flower heads and leave 7, 5-10 cm of stems. Gather smaller leaves and flowers, such as gypsophila flowers, into groups.

Step 4. Lay and glue the fabric flower around the crown wire

Place and tape the flowers one by one around the wire with floral tape. Glue the flowers counterclockwise. Place the head of one of the flowers on the stem of the flower that has been glued together. All flowers should face the same direction as they are placed around the coiled wire. Cover the entire wire with flowers--fill any gaps you can still see.
