Children love animals, this can be seen when they visit the zoo or whine to buy a pet. They love animals of all shapes and sizes, covered in thick fur, feathers, and scales –– and they love to draw those animals too. Read this article to learn how to draw all your favorite animals, including insects, pets, and even sea creatures!
Step
Step 1. Draw a caterpillar with some rounded "M" and a circle for its head
Give it a big smile as you draw it, and maybe a leaf or two to chew on.
Step 2. Draw a butterfly with simple shapes and patterns
Use lots of colors and try to make the wings as symmetrical as possible.
Step 3. Draw a frog in a pose about to jump
The point of view can be from the front or the other side, the important thing is that you can draw the angle of the hind legs correctly.
Step 4. Draw a hamster with small paws and whiskers
Paint the outline dark brown and light brown for the belly.
Step 5. Draw a rabbit to accompany your hamster
Your drawing could be of a regular bunny, as seen above, or of a bunny like Bugs (a cartoon character) or the Easter Bunny. All up to you!
Step 6. Draw a turtle
You can start drawing cartoon turtles, realistic turtles, or even turtles –– draw them all if you want!
Step 7. Draw a monkey
This one is a little tricky, but you can sketch a cute baby monkey with big eyes and a long tail.
Step 8. Draw a cow grazing in the field
The more realistic your drawing of a cow, the more challenging it will be to draw it, although this shouldn't be too difficult as long as the proportions of the image are correct.
Step 9. Draw a fish that is gray and scaly or like in a cartoon
If you want a fish that you can keep at home, try drawing a goldfish instead.
Step 10. Draw a dolphin jumping out of the water
Make sure to draw a darker shadow for the bottom part!
Tips
- Draw lightly with a pencil so you can erase if there are mistakes.
- To make thick fur that looks real when drawing animals, try using colored pencils to add highlights and texture.
- If you want to use markers or watercolors in your drawing, use a thicker paper and outline with your pencil darker before doing so.
- Bold your final drawing with a black pen or pencil.
- You don't have to add every fur on the animal. Just draw the outline and put a shadow inside.
