This wikiHow teaches you how to download YouTube videos to your Android device or iPhone. You can use the app bundled with the "VidPaw" site to download videos on your Android device or iPhone. You can also download videos directly from YouTube by subscribing to YouTube Red. Note that you cannot download certain types of videos (e.g. music videos).

Method 1 of 3: Using iPhone
Step 1. Download the Documents 6 app
Documents, or Documents 6 (as listed in the App Store) is a file manager app for iPhone created by Readdle. How to download it:

Run App Store
- Touch Search.
- Touch the search field.
- Type documents 6.
- Touch Search.
- Touch Documents by Read… in search results.
- Touch GET.
- Type in your Apple ID or Touch ID password.
Step 2. Copy the link of the YouTube video you want to download
While you can't download YouTube Red music videos or movies, you can still download other YouTube videos with the Docs app. First you have to get the video address by doing these steps:
- Run YouTube.
- Open the video you want to download.
- Touch Share below the video.
- Touch Copy link.
Step 3. Open Documents 6
Press the home button on iPhone to minimize the YouTube app, then tap the Documents 6 icon, which is a black, yellow, and green "D" on a white background.
Step 4. Open a Documents 6 web browser
Do this by touching the compass icon at the bottom right of the screen.
If the web browser is not open, you can slide the compass icon to the right
Step 5. Visit
Tap the address bar at the top, then type vidpaw.com and tap the button Go blue on the iPhone keyboard.
Step 6. Paste the YouTube video address
Touch the text box in the center of the page, touch the box again after the iPhone keyboard appears, then touch Paste on the pop-up menu.
Step 7. Touch Start
It's a blue button below the text box.
Step 8. Touch Download
This button is located to the right of the highest quality available (at the top of the page).
Step 9. Touch Done when prompted
This option is at the top right of the screen. iPhone will start downloading the YouTube video.
Step 10. Open the Documents view
Tap the folder icon in the lower left corner. This will bring up a list of folders.
Step 11. Touch Downloads
This folder is in the middle of the Docs page. Touching it will open a list of your downloaded files.
Step 12. Play the video
Find the title and thumbnail of the desired video, then touch the video to play it in the Docs app. The Docs video player will start playing the video.
Step 13. Move the video to the iPhone's Camera Roll
While you can play videos in the Documents app at any time, you can also move videos to the iPhone Photos app if you're using iOS 11. How to do it:
- Touch ⋯ in the corner of the video thumbnail.

Touch Share, then touch Save to Files.
This option is only available in iOS 11. You can't move videos on older iPhones
- Touch On My iPhone, then touch any desired folder and touch Add.
- Run the Files app on your iPhone.
- Touch Browse in the lower right corner.
- Touch On My iPhone, then touch the folder you want to use to save the video.
- Touch the video to open it.

Touch "Share"
and touch Save Videos.
Method 2 of 3: Using Android
Step 1. Download ES File Explorer
This application allows you to view downloaded files and transfer them to your Android device. This is especially useful when you move your downloaded videos to the Photos app on Android later. How to download it:

Go to Play Store
- Touch the search field.
- Type es file explorer.
- Touch ES File Explorer under the search field.
- Touch INSTALL.
- Touch ACCEPT when requested.
Step 2. Copy the link of the YouTube video you want to download
While you can't download YouTube Red music videos or movies, you can still download other YouTube videos with the Docs app. First you have to get the video address by doing these steps:
- Run YouTube.
- Open the video you want to download.
- Touch Share below the video.
- Touch Copy link.
Step 3. Open Google Chrome
Close YouTube and tap the Chrome icon, which is a green, red, yellow, and blue ball.
Step 4. Touch the search field
This column is at the top of the screen.
Step 5. Visit the VidPaw site
Tap the address bar at the top, then type vidpaw.com and tap Enter or Go on the Android keyboard.
Step 6. Paste the YouTube video address
Touch the text box in the center of the page, touch it again after the Android keyboard is displayed, then touch Paste in the pop-up menu.
Step 7. Touch Start
It's a blue button below the text box.
Step 8. Touch Download
It's located to the right of the highest available video quality (at the top of the page).
Step 9. Tap Done when prompted
The options are in the top right corner. The Android device will start downloading the YouTube video.
Step 10. Run ES File Explorer
Close Chrome, then touch the ES File Explorer icon. The ES File Explorer application will open.
If it's your first time running ES File Explorer, you may have to swipe or touch a few pages of information before reaching the main page
Step 11. Decide where to save
Touch SD Card or Internal, depending on the default save location on the Android device.
Step 12. Touch Download
This folder is in the middle of the page, but you may have to scroll down to find it.
Step 13. Watch the video
Find the title and thumbnail of the video, then tap the video to play it in the video player on your Android device.
Step 14. Move the video to the Photos app on Android
To make downloaded videos playable in the Photos app on Android devices (not with ES File Explorer), perform the steps below:
- Touch and hold the video thumbnail.
- Touch ⋮ in the corner of the screen.
- Touch Move to.
- Touch folder Pictures.
- Touch OK.
Method 3 of 3: Using YouTube Red
Step 1. Launch YouTube
Tap the YouTube icon, which is a white triangle on a red background. If you are logged in, the YouTube home page will be opened.
If not logged in, select your profile or tap SIGN IN, then enter your email address and/or password.
Step 2. Touch your profile picture in the top right corner
Your account menu will be opened.
Step 3. Tap Get YouTube Red
It's in the middle of the menu.
Step 4. Touch TRY IT FREE
It's a blue button in the top right corner.
On iPhone, touch GET YOUTUBE RED, then enter your Apple ID or Touch ID when prompted. After that, you can go directly to the "Select video" step.
Step 5. Enter payment information
When prompted, select an available payment method, or touch Add a [method] (for example Add a card), then enter the details for the payment method.
Step 6. Type in the YouTube password
Touch the " Verify your password " text field, then type in the Google account password.
Step 7. Touch BUY located at the bottom of the screen
As long as the password and payment method are verified, you can get YouTube Red service for free for 1 month.
To use YouTube Red, you have to pay IDR 140 thousand per month on an Android device, or IDR 180 thousand for an iPhone
Step 8. Select the video
Find the video you want to download, then touch the video. The video will open.
Step 9. Touch Download
This option is below the video. In some versions of the YouTube app, this option may look like an arrow pointing down. Doing so will display a pop-up menu.
Step 10. Select the video quality
Touch the quality of the video you want to download (for example 720p).
Step 11. Touch DOWNLOAD
This button is at the bottom of the menu. YouTube videos will be downloaded to the smartphone (smartphone).
Step 12. Open the video without using internet connection
YouTube Red can be used to watch downloaded videos offline. How to do it: touch Library, find the video under the "Available Offline" section, then tap the desired video to play it.
Tips
If you're having trouble downloading YouTube videos on your mobile device, you can download them on your computer

- YouTube has strict rules against downloading their videos. So, any service that can be used to download videos at this time may be banned someday.
- Downloading YouTube videos (even if only for your own viewing) violates YouTube's terms of use.
