This wikiHow teaches you how to pay via PayPal on your iPhone or iPad. You can shop in many stores using the PayPal app, or if you use Apple Pay, you can connect PayPal to Apple Pay.

Method 1 of 2: Using the PayPal App
Step 1. Open PayPal on iPhone or iPad
This app has a blue icon with a white “P” in it. Usually you can find it on the home screen.
Not all stores accept PayPal
Step 2. Sign in for an account
Enter your login details (or PIN verification) and tap Login (login).
Step 3. Scroll down and tap In Store
This icon has a blue storefront image.
- If this is your first time using PayPal In Store, tap Let's Go (come on) when asked.
- If you still haven't set up PayPal to use location services, follow the on-screen instructions to set it up.
Step 4. Select a store. Type the name of the store into the “Find a location” screen at the top of the message, then tap the location in the results
If the store name is not on the list, it means the store does not accept PayPal In Store payments
Step 5. Choose a payment method
If you don't want to use the original (default) payment method, tap that method to open the menu, then select a different method.
Step 6. Show the payment code to the cashier
The cashier will validate the code and process your payment.
Method 2 of 2: Adding PayPal to Apple Pay
Step 1. Open iPhone Settings
This app is usually on the home screen. This method will teach you how to connect PayPal to Apple Pay so that Apple Pay payments will reduce your PayPal account balance.
Not all stores accept Apple Pay
Step 2. Tap your name
It's at the top of the menu.
Step 3. Tap iTunes & App Store
Step 4. Tap Apple ID
It's at the top of the menu. The menu will appear on the screen.
Step 5. Tap View Apple ID
This is the first option on the menu.
Step 6. Enter the security code or use Touch ID
After the security method is validated, you will see the Accounts screen.
Step 7. Tap Payment information
A list of payment methods will appear on the screen.
Step 8. Tap PayPal
It is located under "Payment Method".
Step 9. Tap Log in to PayPal
Step 10. Follow the on-screen instructions to authenticate and add your PayPal account
Thus, PayPal was added as Apple Pay's original/default payment method.
Step 11. Use Apple Pay in stores to make PayPal payments
These steps may differ depending on the iPhone type:

iPhone 8 and earlier:
Place your finger on Touch ID, then hold the top of iPhone less than 2.5 cm from the Apple Pay reader. After the PayPal account has been charged, the words “Done” will appear on the screen.

iPhone X:
Double-click the side button, log in with a passcode (or use Face ID), then hold the phone less than 2.5 cm from the Apple Pay reader. If your PayPal account has been charged, the words “Done” will appear on the screen.
