Moneygram bills must be filled out correctly to ensure payments will be received and processed by payees and financial institutions without problems. In some cases, a money order may be rejected by the payee, especially if the writing on the money order is illegible or incorrect. Follow the steps below to fill out a MoneyGram money order.

Step 1. Write the payee's name (the name of the person or business you're paying for) on the line that says "Pay to the Order of
Step 2. Write your first and last name on the line of the money order that says "Purchaser Sign Here
Step 3. Write the full address on the line that says "Address
The address must also contain the city, state and postal code.
Step 4. Separate the note from the cut or receipt attached to the note with the perforated side
Step 5. Save the bill of lading or receipt as your personal record
In the event that your money order is stolen or lost, information about this receipt can be used as proof of purchase, and to track the status of the money order.
Tips
- If you want to enter an account number, apartment number, or other reference on a Moneygram money order, write that information above your street address or next to your signature. This will prevent confusion with payee names arising from the information.
- Fill out a Moneygram claim card as soon as possible if you experience problems with the money order, such as lost, stolen, or damaged, or if you need a replacement money order or a photocopy. Replacements and refunds can only be issued if the money order has not been cashed by the payee.
- Make sure your Moneygram money order is authentic by checking and making sure that the MoneyGram logo is visible on the back of the check when held in the corner, or by calling Moneygram directly at 1-800-542-3590.
- For best results, use a pen with blue or black ink when filling MoneyGram money orders. This can prevent the information you write from fading, erasing, or smudging.
Warning
- Purchase Moneygram money orders directly from Moneygram, or from a reputable retail location licensed to sell MoneyGram money orders. The purchase of a money order from another person or party may result in the purchase of a counterfeit item.
- You cannot change the payee name after you have filled in the line that says "Pay to the Order of". If you make a mistake while filling out a money order, you will be asked to fill out a Moneygram claim card, and pay a 15 dollar fee to refund the entire money order.
