Besides being used to treat skin and hair, almond oil is an important component in beauty products. Almond oil can also be used for cooking. To make your own almond oil at home, all you need is a blender and a little patience. You can also buy an oil press if you're really serious about making it.
Ingredients
Using Blender
- 280 grams of unroasted almonds
- 1-2 teaspoons of olive oil
Using the Oil Press Tool
280 grams of roasted almonds
Step
Part 1 of 3: Making Almond Oil Using a Blender
Step 1. Put the almonds in the blender
Almonds used must be dry and fresh nuts. Make sure the blender is clean and ready to use.
Step 2. Puree the almonds on low speed
You'll need to start on a low speed so that the almonds crumble slowly and evenly. Using a high speed will only make the smoothing process more difficult.
Step 3. Turn off the blender for a while to clean the pile of almonds
As you begin to grind the almonds, the grains will form ball-like balls that accumulate on the sides of the blender. Turn off the blender to scrape the pile of almonds. Be aware that you may need to do this several times during the smoothing process.
Step 4. Puree the almonds at a higher speed
As the almonds become finer, you can increase the speed of the blender to medium or high. This will help the smoothing process.
Step 5. When the almonds are completely smooth, pour in the olive oil
Once the almonds have been mashed into a thick, smooth paste, you can add a teaspoon of olive oil to speed up the mashing process. If the almonds still don't blend as smoothly as you'd like, you can add another teaspoon of olive oil.
Step 6. Save the mashed almonds
When they are mashed, place the almonds in a container such as a glass jar or Tupperware and let it sit at room temperature for 2 weeks. This period of time is sufficient to wait for the oil to separate from the nuts.
Step 7. Separate the almond oil
For best results, try tilting the container and letting the oil drip into a separate container. You can also use a sieve to separate the oil from the almonds.
Step 8. Use almond oil
You can use almond oil for skin, hair, or aromatherapy purposes. Leftover almonds don't need to be thrown away either. You can use it for cooking or mix it with a little canola oil and salt to spread on toast.
Part 2 of 3: Using the Oil Press Tool
Step 1. Place the almonds on the oil press
An oil press is a little more expensive than a blender, but if you're willing to spend a little more, it can crush the almonds more finely. You should place the oil press on a table or other firm surface.
Step 2. Turn the oil pressure lever
To start with, slowly turn the lever so that the toasted almonds produce oil. Unlike a blender, you don't have to worry about oil building up on the edges.
Step 3. Use a cup to collect the oil
Place the cup under the almonds and wait for the oil to drain into the container. The longer you do this, the easier the lever will be to turn.
Step 4. Use almond oil
You can use the almond oil right away without waiting a few weeks for the oil to separate from the almonds like you would in a blender. Although it will look a little cloudy, the effectiveness will still be the same. If you want a clearer oil, pour the almond oil into a container and let it sit all day to allow the particles to settle.
Part 3 of 3: Using Almond Oil
Step 1. Use almond oil to moisturize your face
Almond oil can be used as an everyday moisturizer. This oil can help soften dry and rough skin and provide extra protection to the skin. You can treat your face using almond oil without any chemicals. To use almond oil, wet your hands with warm water and apply about 1/2 teaspoon of almond oil to your face.
You don't need to rinse the almond oil off your face. Use the oil like a natural moisturizer and let your skin absorb it
Step 2. Use almond oil as a face mask
Another thing you can do with almond oil is use it as a face mask to treat your skin. Combine the ingredients to make the mask in a small bowl and mix until it forms a paste that you can rub all over your face with your fingers. Use the maker in the morning and let sit for 30 minutes before rinsing with warm water. Here are the simple ingredients you need to make this mask:
- 1 tablespoon almond oil
- 1 tablespoon honey
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
Step 3. Use almond oil as a facial scrub
Besides being able to help brighten and exfoliate facial skin, scrubs can also remove dead skin cells and dirt that are attached. Combine salt or sugar and almond oil and then in a ratio of 1: 1 until it becomes a densely textured paste. Use your fingertips to massage the mixture on your face, then wash off with warm water.
Apply the scrub gently. If you rub too vigorously, the skin can become irritated
Step 4. Use almond oil as a conditioner
To use almond oil as a conditioner, rub about a teaspoon of almond oil on damp hair. Use a comb to smooth it out then cover your hair afterwards. Wait about 30 minutes for the almond oil to work, then wash your hair with shampoo to remove the oil.
If you do this step at least once a week, your hair will be healthier in no time
Step 5. Apply almond oil on dry hair
You can also use almond oil like any other hair oil. Pour half a teaspoon of almond oil into your palms, run it through your hair, and comb through your hair to spread the almond oil thoroughly. You can use almond oil to keep your hair looking shiny and protecting it from split ends.
Don't do this step more than once every day or two because your hair will become too oily
Step 6. Use almond oil to make lip balm
If you want to use almond oil for lip care, gather some simple ingredients to make your own lip balm at home. Melt all the following ingredients using a double boiler over low heat. Then, lift and pour the liquid into the tube. Leave it for 24 hours before use. You can use the following ingredients:
- 1 tablespoon shea butter
- 1 tablespoon coconut oil
- 1 1/2 tablespoons almond oil
- 1 1/2 tablespoons beeswax (beeswax)
- The lip balm tube is 4.5 ml
Tips
- Simmer the almond oil for at least 15 minutes. Then, refrigerate for 15 minutes.
- Use a blender and grind the almonds to a fine powder.
- If you add other essential oils, the almond oil will be even better.
Warning
- Do not boil the ingredients for too long.
- Don't pour too much essential oil.
