Dark circles under the eyes will generally make you look tired or sick. If this condition is very obvious, you may feel embarrassed and annoyed. Dark circles under the eyes can indicate an unhealthy lifestyle, poor nutrition, dehydration, lack of sleep and allergies. However, there are several solutions that can reduce the appearance of dark circles, for example with the help of natural remedies, makeup, eye creams, and dermatological procedures.
Step
Method 1 of 5: Using Makeup
Step 1. Choose the right blemish cam
Use a blemish mask that is twice as bright as your skin tone. Most makeup brands provide a blemish mask that is specifically designed to cover under-eye circles. Choose a blemish mask that is sufficiently moist and won't show the fine lines around the eyes.
Step 2. Choose the right color
Some dark circles are usually a bluish or purplish tinge, so you can neutralize those colors by using a yellowish tint mask.
Step 3. Apply a smudge mask under your eyes
You just need to apply it right on the eye circle: the semicircular area that runs from the inside of the eye down towards the cheek. Apply concealer to this area with your fingertips or a soft makeup brush. Blend with fingertips or a damp sponge.
Step 4. Cover the blemishes with transparent powder
This powder is the final step of makeup that can be sprinkled on your skin to perfect blemish disguise, foundation, and other makeup. Sprinkle transparent powder under your eyes and blend with a sponge.
Step 5. Using a dark colored eye pencil
Dark eye pencil will reduce dark circles by making your eyes look more sparkly and alive. Outline the upper and lower lids with a dark brown eye pencil. Add a dark blue eye pencil line to the upper third of the eyelid.
Step 6. Apply waterproof mascara
The waterproof mascara will prevent the appearance of mascara smudges under the eyes which can result in dark circles. Apply two coats of black mascara on the upper lashes.
Step 7. Use a highlighter pen for makeup
The highlighter pen adds glow to the skin and brightens up your face. This pen can be applied to the under eye area to minimize dark circles. How to use it is to scratch the tip of the pen on your skin with light movements. Blend into makeup using your fingertips.
Method 2 of 5: Using Natural Remedies
Step 1. Apply a cold compress
Cold compresses are useful for reducing blood vessels under the eyes that may be contributing to the appearance of puffiness and dark circles. Soak a cloth in ice water or use the back of a spoon that has been frozen. Lie down and place the cold object on your closed eyes for about 15 minutes. Do this 3-4 times every day to reduce dark circles.
Step 2. Make use of cucumber slices
Cucumbers contain a number of beneficial substances, including a skin-refreshing and healing effect. How to use it is to cut a few slices of cucumber about 1/2 inch (1.3 cm) and then put it in the refrigerator. Lie down with your head back and place a cold slice of cucumber over your eyes. Leave the cucumbers for 10-15 minutes then remove them.
In addition you can also use cucumber juice. Soak a cotton ball in the juice and then apply it to your eyes
Step 3. Add the juice of half a lemon to the paste
Apply this mixture to the area under your eyes. Leave it for 15 minutes then rinse with cold water. Repeat this application twice a day.
Step 4. Using green tea bags
Green tea is rich in antioxidants and can cover up the lack of antioxidants in the body that contribute to the appearance of dark circles. Dip two tea bags in hot water and let them soak for 5 minutes. Remove the tea bags and store in the refrigerator. Take the tea bag when it is very cold. Lie down and hold the tea bag to your eye. Leave it for about 15 minutes. Rinse your eyes with cold water and then pat them dry.
Step 5. Using a neti pot
A neti pot is a utensil that resembles a small teapot. This device is generally used to drain salt water through your sinuses. Pour warm distilled water into a neti pot and then add kosher salt or sea salt (avoid iodized salt). Use to 1 teaspoon of salt per 473 ml of water. Tilt your head to the side and pour water through one nostril. Let the water drain out through the other nostril.
Follow the instructions for use on the neti pot packaging
Step 6. Using other natural remedies
There are a number of medications and recipes that use natural ingredients. Search online for natural remedies to treat dark circles. Some of these ingredients include:
- Chamomile
- Almond oil
- Arnica
- Rose Water
- Avocado
Method 3 of 5: Lifestyle Changes
Step 1. Get enough sleep
There are a number of triggers for the appearance of dark circles under the eyes and one of them is lack of sleep. You should sleep for at least 7-8 hours every night to reduce the appearance of dark circles while improving your overall health.
- Try sleeping in a different position. If you sleep on your side or stomach, the effects of gravity will cause fluid to collect under your eyes, which can contribute to dark circles. Sleep in a supine position. If you usually roll back and forth during your sleep, try holding your back in a supine position with the help of a pillow.
- Use a pillow or two to elevate your head so that fluid doesn't collect under your eyes.
Step 2. Observe the allergies that are often felt
Allergies that appear in certain seasons (such as pollen) or are triggered by dust, pet dander, and other things can swell the eyes and darken the area under the eyes. Take medication to control allergy symptoms. Also avoid exposure to allergens that bother you.
Dark circles under the eyes are a common symptom indicating an allergy or food sensitivity. Foods that generally contain allergens are wheat, soy, egg whites, nuts, sugar and others. Try to avoid foods that cause allergies
Step 3. Eat healthy, vitamin-rich foods
Dark circles can also be triggered by a lack of vitamins such as calcium, iron, vitamins A, E and B12, as well as antioxidants. You should consume more green leafy vegetables and eat foods rich in vitamins and reduce salt intake.
Step 4. Don't drink alcohol
Alcohol causes skin to become dry and thin, so avoiding it will prevent eye circles and swelling.
Step 5. Don't smoke
Smoking weakens collagen, causing the skin to shrivel and thin prematurely and cause dark circles to appear more dramatic. Do not smoke and avoid being in areas filled with cigarette smoke.
Step 6. Use sunscreen
Wearing sunscreen on your face can prevent dark circles from appearing and prevent them from getting darker.[6] Apply sunscreen 15 minutes before going outside. Put it on again every two hours if you are outdoors for a long period of time.
Also wear sunglasses if you go outdoors in the sun to prevent squinting while protecting your eyes
Method 4 of 5: Using Skin Cream
Step 1. Apply retinol on the skin
Retinol increases the production of collagen which works to tighten the skin under the eyes so that it can reduce the appearance of dark circles. Retinol creams are available at drugstores for around Rp. 100,000 or more, while expensive creams range from Rp. 700,000 and above. Use this cream every day either in the morning or evening. Apply the cream evenly under and above the eyes.
Retinol is not a quick solution. Experts say that it may take up to 12 weeks of use to prove results
Step 2. Use a prescription cream
You can also ask a dermatologist about creams containing vitamin A and retinoic acid that can increase blood flow to the eye circle area and thicken the skin under the eyes to reduce visible eye shadows.
Step 3. Use a skin lightening cream
Use creams made from soy or citrus ingredients to lighten the skin. With regular use, this type of lotion can reduce dark circles and heal sunspots.
- Avoid lotions containing chemicals such as hydroquinone. This lotion works to brighten the skin, but the content is too dangerous for the skin around the eyes which is quite sensitive.
- These creams also take a long time to show results and often take up to 6 weeks.
Method 5 of 5: Trying Dermatological Procedures
Step 1. Using laser therapy
Laser therapy targets fat deposits located under the eyes by destroying them while smoothing the skin. Discoloration of the skin can also be removed. This therapy is usually practiced by a dermatologist.
Step 2. Try a mild chemical exfoliant
Chemical peels are given by a dermatologist by applying chemicals to the skin to treat the condition. These chemicals will exfoliate the top layer of skin and reveal a healthier layer underneath. It is recommended to use mild exfoliating chemicals such as glycolic or AHAs because the skin under the eyes is very thin and sensitive.
Step 3. Looking for information about Intense Credit Treatment
This treatment uses high energy light waves to target the skin under the eyes. This method will destroy the fat deposits under the eyes and smooth the skin.
Although effective, this method is also very expensive and time consuming. You may need to schedule multiple sessions to achieve the results you want
Step 4. Operation method
Surgery should be a last resort and of course the results are not immediately obtained quickly. This method is performed by plastic surgeons and involves the removal of fat deposits under the eyes. This treatment will make the skin smoother and substantially reduce skin discoloration.
