Step 1. Prepare some blue color
Blue is one of the primary colors needed to create teal. Some artists have different preferences when it comes to choosing the right shade of blue. By setting the bright blue together with the darker blue (some call it phthalo blue), you have several options for creating the right color.
Step 2. Choose a striking green color
Green is another color needed to create a teal color. Choose a green color that is not too dark. Choose a medium-bright green, such as a kelly green or emerald green.

Step 3. Prepare some yellow paint

Step 4. Prepare white paint to beautify the teal pattern

Part 2 of 2: Mixing Paints
Step 1. Make the base teal color
Mix blue paint, green paint, and yellow paint. The resulting color may not be immediately as desired. Try to produce a base color first. Make changes if necessary.
- You can also create a basic teal color by mixing phthalo blue paint with a little yellow and white paint.
- Brushes and palette knives can be used to mix paint. Brushes are a good option if you want to mix a lot of colors. A palette knife can be used to combine small amounts of color. Choose the tool that suits your needs.
- If you want to create a large variety of teal colors, you may need a large enough canvas. If you only need a not-so-large sample, a palette commonly used for painting is a good option.
Step 2. Make the teal color more interesting by adding white
Besides being able to make colors brighter, white can also affect the opacity and complexity of colors. Apply colored paint to the surface of the canvas, then add a little white paint. By doing this, you will notice that white paint can make the colors on the canvas surface more striking and interesting.
Step 3. Don't add black paint
While black paint can make a color darker, it can make a color feel darker and lessen its beauty. Choose the color you selected earlier to create the same effect.

- When in doubt, choose several versions that have been made to be modified again. Your skills will guide you. As your painter skills improve, you'll realize that it doesn't take too many colors to create the right shades.
- The paint will change color when it dries. Apply a small amount of teal and then allow it to dry. Do this before starting to paint.
