Maybe your clothes are wrinkled, but there's no iron you can use. This can seem like a big deal, especially if you're out of town and need to look presentable for your job. Or maybe your iron is broken, or you don't have one? There's no reason to wear wrinkled clothes.
Step
Method 1 of 3: Using Alternative Ways to Remove Wrinkles
Step 1. Put the clothes and ice cubes in the dryer
Drying clothes by turning them in the dryer is a powerful way to remove wrinkles. Turn it on to medium heat, and dry your clothes for 15 minutes.
- Hang up your clothes as soon as you take them out of the dryer, so they don't wrinkle again. Or just put it on. If you leave your clothes in the dryer too long after they are finished drying, or put them in the laundry basket, they may wrinkle again.
- Put some ice cubes in the dryer or spray some water on your clothes before drying them. The ice cubes will melt and turn into water vapor, which can help smooth out wrinkled clothes. Or, you can put damp socks along with wrinkled clothes in the dryer.
Step 2. Try putting wrinkled clothes in the bathroom
Many people feel that this option can remove wrinkles on clothes quickly. Turn on the hot shower in the bathroom. Close the bathroom door to prevent the steam from escaping.
- Then, hang the wrinkled clothes on the bathroom shower handle. Seal the bathroom tightly to prevent air from escaping--close the doors, windows, and gap plugs under the doors. This method is easier to do in small bathrooms.
- The time it takes for the steam to get rid of the creases in your clothes is about 15 minutes. Be sure to point the shower head away from your clothes, so your clothes don't get wet. Also, make sure the shower handle in the bathroom is clean enough so that it doesn't leave stains on your clothes. You can hang clothes just like that, or use clothes hangers.
- Keep clothes as close to heat and water sources as possible without getting them wet. Hanging clothes away from the shower head is not enough to remove the wrinkles. So that the water that comes out is not in vain, you should try this method when you shower.
Step 3. Purchase an anti-wrinkle spray at the store
You can find anti-wrinkle spray at supermarkets. Your clothes must be damp for the spray to remove wrinkles. Or, you can make your own anti-wrinkle spray at home.
- Hold your clothes, and spray. Gently tug on the fabric to remove any wrinkles after spraying.
- An anti-wrinkle spray like this is best suited for cotton garments. Do not use this spray on soft fabrics such as silk, as it will stain water droplets. Try spraying a small area of your garment first before applying it all over.
- You can also make a homemade anti-wrinkle spray with water and a little vinegar. Put it in a spray bottle and apply a small amount to your wrinkled clothes. If you try to use vinegar, be careful because the spray can leave an unpleasant odor. Instead of vinegar, you can add a little fabric softener to the water. Keep a bottle of this spray in your office drawer to improve your appearance before a presentation, or in the car during long trips.
- After spraying your clothes, hang them up and let them dry. Also make sure to moisturize your clothes. If you wet it, chances are it won't work. You can hang clothes outside, although this option is more suitable for white clothes, because sunlight can fade the color of the clothes.
Method 2 of 3: Using an Iron Substitute
Step 1. Try using the bottom of the hot pot as an iron
Choose the pot you usually use to boil instant noodles. Boil water in it. Then, drain the water and use the bottom as an iron.
- The downside of this method is that you have to be careful not to get hurt and damage your clothes. In addition, the heat from the pan is also not uniform, because the pan will cool quickly and in a circular shape.
- Still, this option is better than wearing a wrinkled shirt, because it can at least help you remove some of the wrinkles.
Step 2. Use a hair straightener as an iron
Usually this tool is used to curl your hair. But you can also use it to iron a small part of your clothes. Hair straighteners are very easy to reach areas that are difficult to iron like shirt collars.
- A hair straightener can also clamp clothes from both directions, so it releases more heat than other methods, such as using a hairdryer.
- Make sure to clean your straightener first. If there is still some hair care product on the surface, such as hairspray, the stain could stick to your clothes. Be aware that hair care products can transfer from your hair to the heating layer of the iron every time you use them.
- Your clothes may catch fire if you hold the vise in for too long, so be careful. Don't use a hair straightener with a curved heating layer to straighten your clothes.
Method 3 of 3: Trying Different Things to Remove Wrinkles
Step 1. Use a hair dryer
To use a hairdryer, you must first dampen your clothes. Don't soak your clothes in water, you just need to get them slightly wet, maybe using a spray bottle. After that, turn on the hairdryer with the lowest temperature option. The tip of the hairdryer is very helpful in directing the hot air out.
- Hold the hairdryer 5 cm from the clothes, so it won't overheat. You certainly don't want to damage or even burn your clothes, do you?
- You should also hang the wrinkled clothes first, then point the hair dryer at the surface, again, 2.5-5 cm away from your clothes.
Step 2. Roll or press your clothes
Maybe you have no way of heating or steaming your clothes. However, you are in luck! You can still try rolling or pressing your clothes.
- Take the wrinkled part of the garment and then roll it up tightly. Make it like a roll. Then place it under a mattress or other heavy object for about 1 hour. When you take the clothes out and unroll them, some of the wrinkles should be reduced.
- Alternatively, you can press the garment with a damp towel. Lay the wrinkled clothes on a flat surface. Moisten the towel (use a tissue if you don't have a bath towel to use). Place the towel on top of the garment (right where it is wrinkled). Press down. Then let it dry.
- This method will take longer than the other methods, but with a little pressure of your hands on the surface of the towel, your clothes should be wrinkle-free.
Step 3. Use a tea kettle
The steam can remove wrinkles, so you can boil water in a kettle. Then place the clothes about 60 cm from the hole where the steam is coming out of the kettle, because if you get too close, your clothes can be damaged.
- One of the advantages of this method is that you can also enjoy the tea afterwards! This method is perfect for dealing with clothes that are slightly wrinkled on one side.
- If the creases are large enough, we recommend using the steam from the hot shower in the bathroom instead.
Tips
- If you have an iron, but don't have time to iron your clothes, just trim the collar. This part is too close to your face to ignore. People certainly saw his frown.
- When you're out and about, take out tomorrow's clothes and hang them on the bathroom towel rail, so you can "automatically" tidy them up when you shower in the morning. In addition, you can also check if the clothes are too wrinkled and need to be steamed that night.
- Use a dryer sheet when trying to dry clothes with a dryer to prevent static electricity from building up on the surface of your clothes. In addition, the smell of your clothes will also feel fresh if you choose the right brand.
- Do not pull your clothes too often, because it can make them slack.
- It may take you a few tries to de-wrinkle clothes with hot water--don't start with expensive clothes, as they might get wet with water.
