You can make egg oil (ovum oil) for hair and skin care yourself at home. Egg oil is useful for treating acne, hair loss, gray hair, and aging. This option is safer than using egg yolks directly because they may be contaminated with Salmonella bacteria which can trigger a severe inflammatory reaction.
Ingredients
6 chicken eggs
Step
Step 1. Boil 6 eggs for 15-20 minutes
Peel the eggshell after it cools naturally then cut the egg into two halves.
Step 2. Separate the yolk and egg white (albumin) with a spoon
You can use egg whites in cooking instead of throwing them away.
Step 3. Puree the egg yolks on a flat pan
Try to smooth the yolk as much as possible.
Step 4. Heat the egg yolks on low heat
Continue to cook the egg yolks until they darken in color and start to smoke/smell. Stir and mash the egg yolks periodically.
Step 5. Continue cooking
Continue to heat the egg yolks until all the protein turns black and the oil drains out. The time required may be quite long. When the yolk turns black, a strong smell of smoke will come out.
Step 6. Cool
Let the pan cool down to room temperature.
Step 7. Strain the oil
Squeeze the egg oil, then strain with a fine cloth or sieve. Store the oil in small glass or ceramic bottles (don't use plastic or metal containers). Use a nylon or synthetic cloth to filter the oil as cotton tends to absorb a lot of oil and waste it. If you see any solid debris in the oil, strain it again to get a clear, clear oil. Try to keep water droplets or other objects away from the oil so that it can be used longer. This oil can be stored in the refrigerator for a maximum of 3 years or at room temperature for a maximum of 1 year. If stored and used properly, this oil will remain sterile for up to 5 years.
Step 8. Use
Massage this oil into your head once a week to treat hair loss, dandruff, gray hair, or treat acne. Always use a clean and dry spoon to avoid contamination of the oil.
-
You can also use this oil to treat burns, cuts, and minor cuts.
Tips
- You can also buy egg oil at the market or online.
- To make the oil last longer, make sure the storage bottle is clean and dry, tightly closed, and protected from light.
- Be sure to open the kitchen window while making the egg oil as it usually has a strong smoke and smell.
- To get about 150 ml of oil, it usually takes 50 eggs.
Warning
- Allow the pan to cool completely before trying to squeeze out the egg oil.
- Smoke and odor will come out during the manufacture of egg oil. If possible, make this oil outdoors or in a room with wide windows.
