The decision to switch email services doesn't mean you have to leave your old email address behind. With the email forwarding feature, you can automatically forward all the emails you receive in your Yahoo account to Gmail. In fact, you can also set up Gmail to check your Yahoo account, and send email from a Yahoo address.

Method 1 of 2: Forwarding Email
Step 1. Sign in to your Yahoo Mail account
You can forward any incoming email to any email address, including Gmail. However, some users have reported difficulties using the email forwarding feature. If you have trouble using this feature, read the next steps.
Step 2. Click the cog icon in the top right corner of the page, then click Settings
The account settings page will open in a new window.
Step 3. Click the Accounts tab
Your Yahoo Mail account and other connected accounts will appear.
Step 4. Click your Yahoo Mail account at the top of the Accounts window
The account settings page will open.
Step 5. Swipe the screen, then select the Forward option
This option allows you to forward email to another address.
Step 6. Select the action after the email is forwarded
Yahoo will save any emails that have been forwarded. You can choose to mark the email as read, or leave the email alone.
Step 7. Enter the email address to which the forwarding will be sent, then click Verify
You will receive a verification message in the destination email account.
Step 8. If your browser is blocking pop-ups, allow pop-ups for Yahoo
After clicking Verify, you will see a pop-up window. If the window doesn't appear, click the pop-up icon in the far right corner of the address bar, then allow pop-ups for Yahoo Mail.
Step 9. Open the verification message that was sent to the forwarding address
This message is useful for proving ownership of an email account.
Step 10. Click the link in the verification message to prove ownership
After successful verification, the email account will be added to the Yahoo Mail account.
Method 2 of 2: Checking Yahoo Mail via Gmail
Step 1. Open your Gmail inbox
You can set Gmail to load messages from Yahoo so you don't have to sign in to Yahoo Mail. If you can't use the email forwarding feature, try these steps.
If the Inbox site opens instead of Gmail, click the Gmail link in the Inbox menu
Step 2. Click the cog icon, then click Settings
The account settings page will open.
Step 3. Click the Accounts and Import tab to adjust the account settings
Step 4. Click the Add a POP3 mail account you own link
Step 5. Enter your Yahoo email address
You can add five email addresses to Gmail..
Step 6. To allow Gmail to access Yahoo mail, enter your Yahoo account password
Step 7. Check the Label incoming messages option to have Gmail sort the emails from your Yahoo account into a custom label
After that, click Add Account. Use the default settings on the other options.
Step 8. Choose whether you want to send the email from a Yahoo address
If the sending email option is enabled, you can select a Yahoo account as the sending account when composing an email.
If you want to send an email from a Yahoo address, you must click the verification link sent to the Yahoo address
Step 9. Find your Yahoo messages on the label
These labels allow you to easily find new messages. Gmail will pull messages from your Yahoo account periodically.
