After the new year, during spring break, or before summer, people often want to change their room. Your room is your little palace and must change with the changes you also experience as an individual. Whether it's a sign of a fresh start or simply a desire to make a change, you can learn to plan this rearrangement as well as get creative tips on room layout strategies.
Step
Part 1 of 3: Getting Started
Step 1. Ask permission first
Before you start moving beds or other furniture, make sure you get permission from your parents, partners, roommates, or landlord to make sure you're allowed to move things. This can also be an opportunity to ask for help when it comes time to move things around and arrange rooms.
Do not attempt to move very large furniture alone. If you want to move a large wardrobe or bed, you will need at least one person to help you. But ideally you need more than one person's help
Step 2. Find a tool to move furniture or large objects
One way to easily move large objects that don't have wheels is to place them on sliders or furniture legs that allow you to move furniture across the floor more easily without having to worry about tripping over or damaging the floor. These items are available and can be purchased at a home improvement store or home improvement store.
- You can also make your own sliders from blankets, frisbees, sheets, towels, or old carpet pieces.
- Use the hard plastic slider to slide across carpet floors, and the soft slider for hardwood floors. Depending on what the flooring material is, these sliders can be less or more effective, and aren't absolutely necessary all the time.
Step 3. Get rid of some items to get more space
Before you start moving anything, take some time to open up a little space in your room. Get rid of trash cans or anything that doesn't come from your room, including drinking glasses and other kitchen items, other people's belongings, and other items.
- This may be a little time consuming, but it is important to do. If you want to spend a few days unpacking your desks and bookshelves, throwing away all the old paper and unnecessary items, this is the perfect opportunity to do just that. Reconsider all the things you have and throw away the unnecessary.
- Tidy up your clothes and separate clean and dirty clothes. You can evaluate whether you need it and have more room to rearrange later.
- Try to keep as few things as possible that you will use often. For items other than that, if you don't feel sentimental, throw them away or keep them in a safe so you never see them again.
Step 4. Start by cleaning thoroughly
The room to be rearranged must be clean. So, starting with a thorough cleaning of the existing space is something that doesn't need to be explained anymore. Take the time to clean the floor under and around the furniture you are moving. Rearranging, organizing, and cleaning a room is usually part of one big project or job.
- Clean the glass and mirrors, vacuum the floor, sweep and mop the floor, remove dust from the furniture, and clean all surfaces of the furniture you are moving. Start cleaning high places, sweeping every corner of the room, then cleaning the entire floor last.
- As an alternative, some people prefer to make the room really messy and dirty first, then cleaned. Depending on which one you prefer, you can immediately reorganize your room and make the room a mess, then start cleaning once everything is organized and put in the right way.
Step 5. Visualize the new layout of your room
Now that your room is more spacious and clean, start planning where and how you want to arrange your room. Measure your furniture and make sure each piece of furniture fits where you want to move it before you start moving it. Read the next section for tips on arranging your furniture.
- For some people, making a visual layout of the shape of the room might help. That way, if you don't like the layout, you can delete and redraw. Measure all the furniture and make sure they fit. You don't want to waste energy moving furniture into an area that doesn't fit or fit.
- You may need to measure the length of the walls and area of the room as well as the size of your furniture before you start drawing up the layout. Or, you can move them right away if you really like to see and estimate in person.
Part 2 of 3: Reorder Concept
Step 1. Rotate everything according to the X axis (flat axis)
Depending on the orientation of the room and your furniture, sometimes the easiest way is to rotate around the X-axis, or simply rotate the item, and not move too much stuff. If you just want to make a few changes but don't know how, this can be a great option and is pretty easy to do.
- For example, if your bed is parallel to a door or window, turn it so that it is perpendicular to the wall. You can do this simply by turning the bed to the right or left.
- Choose one corner of each piece of furniture and make sure that corner doesn't move. Imagine all the items just facing in different directions by simply turning them the other way.
Step 2. Point the furniture at the window
Some people hate waking up with the sun dazzling their eyes, while others find the sun refreshing their bodies in the morning. Some people may hate the sun dazzling their eyes while sitting and working on a desk during the day, while some people like to enjoy the moonlight at night. It all really depends on your preferences and preferences, but it's a good idea to imagine how the sun's rays will enter your room and direct your furniture accordingly.
- You may want to mark where on the floor the morning and evening rays enter with chalk when moving things, so you can remember where the sun will come in regardless of the weather.
- You can also use the window space to set how you will arrange the furniture in the room. You may place a bed, shelf, or other piece of furniture parallel to the window, or in the space between the window and the wall.
Step 3. Save and make space with your furniture
By using furniture wisely, you can create and maximize the amount of space available in your room by rearranging or making a larger space by using furniture to separate corners or other areas of your room.
- If you have a desk or cupboard, you can also save space by placing your desk at the foot of the bed (if the bed doesn't have a back). This is a great placement for small rooms that need space to sleep and work.
- If you have a larger room, use a desk or bookshelf to separate the space from the bed so you create a dedicated area for work.
- Curtains, scarves, or drapes can also be a great way to separate beds or create a sitting area in your room. Hang the fabric from the ceiling and the top corner of the wall with tacks to experiment with different areas and see what shapes and arrangements you like.
Step 4. Think about your flow and path
How will you get in and out of the room? What do you need to be able to access or achieve from different positions? You have to think about the practical elements and the aesthetic elements that make up the room. You should have enough room to move freely, and setting up that space is just as important as thinking about where you want to put your furniture.
- If your room is frequented by other people, place the bed on the opposite side of the door so you don't have to sit down or appear sleepy when someone is visiting.
- If you have a shoe rack, is there room to put it next to the door? You'll be able to access things easily if they're placed closest to where you need them.
- Where will you put the collapsible items? Under a shelf, under a bed, or in a closet are great places to store things and keep your room free from piles of stuff on the floor so you have enough room to move around.
Step 5. Make sure nothing is blocked
Make sure all paths and objects you need to access are free of obstructions. Can the windows be opened, the curtains open, and the doors open easily? Make sure moving your furniture does not affect the function of the furniture. Otherwise you may have to open the drawer while continuing to make it hit the foot of your bed.
Step 6. Place your work desk and chair at the “strong point” of your room
People usually place their desks and chairs facing the door with their backs against the wall and you facing the direction where people will enter the room. This tends to help people feel more secure and aware of their surroundings and makes it easier to greet anyone who knocks on the door.
Step 7. Consider new storage options
As you start thinking about how to move various items, you should also increase the storage options available to you, and see if there are opportunities to combine or add space savers to your room. Consider if you can do some of these storage options:
- New shelf.
- New plastic basket.
- Decorative basket.
- Trash can or laundry basket.
- The jar on the windowsill.
Step 8. Replace the curtains
An easy, quick and significant way to change the color theme or brighten up your room is to replace the curtains with new ones. This can change the light that enters your room faintly and also make your room look new without having to change a lot.
You can also lower the curtains if you want more light for your room
Part 3 of 3: Reorganizing Your Room
Step 1. Remove all small items from your room
Before you start moving things, collect any small items that piled up, got damaged, or got lost when you moved furniture. Also collect the same items found on the desk or cupboard such as lamps, pens, and picture frames, and then move them to another room for a while. To keep them from falling or becoming a burden, collect these items in a large container and remove them from your room.
Step 2. If necessary, remove the furniture from the room
Sometimes, and especially if your room is too full, it's a good idea to take out your furniture and make your room empty or nearly empty before filling it back up with a new arrangement. It also allows you to clean the room more thoroughly, especially under beds, cupboards, and other areas that may not have been cleaned before your room was rearranged.
Step 3. Ask for help moving large items
Start by moving the largest item in your room, which is usually a bed or maybe a closet (if your wardrobe is bigger). If something is preventing you from moving the furniture, remove it first.
- Once the first piece of furniture is in position, return the item you removed earlier to its original position or any other position you want. If there is another item in the new position, move the other item and continue your work until all the items are in the position you want them to be.
- Another way to arrange is to choose the corner of the room farthest from the door and start sorting from that corner towards the door. This will keep your doors and paths of movement from piling up and getting blocked while rearranging rooms.
Step 4. Continue moving the furniture according to your new plan or design
Once you've moved the largest item to the desired position, continue to load other items so that your room fills according to plan. Make sure you like the new position for each item or piece of furniture before moving on to the next item so you don't have to start all over again if there's an item or two that you don't like.
If you want to move your desk and start refilling the drawers, it can be very annoying to have to take it out again because you don't like the position of your desk when you see the new cabinets. Remember, put in large items or furniture first before decorating
Step 5. Focus on finishing touches once all the furniture is in position
After all the large items and furniture are in place, put all the small items back into the room and place them in their proper position. Then clean your room one more time if you feel the need.

Tips
- Make sure you start with a clean room. Otherwise, the objects on the floor will get in your way and the pile will spoil the look of your newly-arranged room.
- You may be tempted to put a container of small items under the bed and take care of it another day after you are tired of moving large items. But to be more satisfied, you have to get everything done right away.
- Any job can be boring without music. Turn on your iPod and shuffle the songs so you can hear songs you haven't heard in a long time without feeling nervous about having to reach for the computer to find the song you want.
- Don't make small items make the room very messy, because that will hinder your process of moving things.
- Close all computer games, chat programs, and all sites except those devoted to arranging rooms because they will become distractions in the middle of your work.
- If you can't move something by yourself, don't be upset or frustrated. Ask for help, and if you have to, put small items in containers and put them in the cupboard, then do the rest of your assignments tomorrow. Take a break if you feel you need to.
- You sometimes need motivation while reorganizing to stay motivated. Reward yourself when you're done.
- Don't call or text other people while arranging rooms. You won't finish if you're constantly being bullied.
