Waxing your eyebrows at first can be scary. But as long as you have enough knowledge, know what you are doing and follow a few precautions, you can do well or even better than a therapist in a salon. By doing it at home, you can save a lot of money too!
Step
Method 1 of 3: Trim Eyebrows with Paraffin Wax
Step 1. Prepare the required items
You will need microwave-safe wax, tweezers, a makeup brush or ice cream stick, an eyebrow brush, eyebrow powder or eyebrow pencil, small scissors, and a strip of cotton cloth (you can use pieces from an old t-shirt).
Step 2. Wash your face with warm water to open the hair follicles so this process is less painful
Next, get ready to trim the top of one eyebrow. When applying wax to the eyebrows, do not apply to the other eyebrows so you can concentrate on only one eyebrow. Don't let this wax get into your eyes! If you don't think your hand is too steady to do it yourself, stop and ask someone else to apply it.
Step 3. Heat the wax in an open container in the microwave
Heat for 10 to 15 seconds or 5 to 10 seconds if only half the container is filled. Wax boils easily and don't let this happen. Stir in the wax to make sure it heats evenly (it should now have a consistency like warm honey).
Step 4. Insert an ice cream stick or the tip of a makeup brush into the wax
Then, quickly and carefully, while the wax is still warm, apply the wax to the hairs you want to remove on the upper eyebrows. After that, place a strip of cloth over the area, pressing it firmly and rubbing it with your finger in the direction the hair is growing. Leave it for a few seconds and then pull the cloth. Do not worry! Wax only pulls hair, not skin, so it won't hurt.
Step 5. Comb the eyebrows with an eyebrow brush
Then, using the comb side of the brow brush, gently brush the bristles upward. Trim the excess long hair (the hair that comes out of the comb) by trimming it with scissors. Be careful not to cut the eyebrows you want to keep.
Step 6. Repeat this procedure on the lower eyebrows
You work in a small area. Be careful not to get the wax on the area you've trimmed! If wax gets on this area, dab some baby oil on it to get rid of it.
Step 7. Apply a moisturizer with vitamin E or another moisturizing product to the areas you are trimming
You should not skip this step as it can reduce swelling and redness in just a few minutes. Wait a few minutes and wipe.
Step 8. Repeat this procedure on the other eyebrow
Do not rush. It's a good idea to make one eyebrow as close to the other eyebrow as possible. Otherwise, your eyebrows will look different! Apply a skin-soothing moisturizer to the areas you've trimmed when you're done.
Step 9. Shape the eyebrows with an eyebrow pencil or eyebrow coloring powder
No one has perfect eyebrows, even after waxing. This shaping process makes the eyebrows more symmetrical.
Method 2 of 3: Trim Eyebrows with Sugar and Honey
Step 1. Prepare the necessary items
Two teaspoons of brown sugar, one teaspoon of honey, one teaspoon of water, a bread knife or ice cream stick, and a piece of cloth for plucking eyebrows.
Step 2. Combine brown sugar, honey and water in a microwave-safe container
You can also heat it on the stove if you don't have a microwave.
Step 3. Heat this mixture until it foams and turns brown
You have to heat it up just right. If you don't heat it long enough, the mixture will become too soft and sticky. If heated too long, this mixture turns into a hard candy. You may have to experiment a few times until you get the right mix. Usually the time it takes is 30 to 35 seconds.
It will take longer if you heat it on the stove
Step 4. Allow the mixture to cool
This is also important. You only know if you overheated when the mixture has cooled. If the mixture is too thick, dilute it with a little water.
Step 5. Apply this sugar wax with an ice cream stick or bread knife to the upper eyebrows
Just in case, only dab one eyebrow at a time. If you feel your hand isn't steady, stop and have someone else do it for you.
Step 6. Put the piece of fabric on the eyebrows
Emphasize this piece of fabric and smooth it in the direction the hair is growing. Leave it for a few seconds. Then, pull the fabric in a different direction from where the hair is growing. The use of sugar wax is not as painful as the use of paraffin wax.
Step 7. Repeat these steps to wax the lower part of the eyebrows
Remember that you are tidying up a small area. Be careful not to apply wax to the freshly trimmed area! Don't worry if you accidentally do it because all you have to do is clean it with baby oil.
Step 8. Apply a skin moisturizer with vitamin E or other moisturizing skin product to the areas that have just been made
Do not skip this step because it can reduce swelling and redness of the skin in just a few minutes. Wait a few minutes then clean it.
Step 9. Repeat the same steps on the other eyebrow
Try to keep the shape of the eyebrow as closely as possible to the other eyebrow. Otherwise, your two eyebrows will look completely different! Fill in the blanks with an eyebrow pencil or eyebrow powder and remove any untidy hairs with tweezers.
Method 3 of 3: Trim Eyebrows with a Professional Waxing Tool
Step 1. Check the contents of the device to make sure you have everything you need
Most waxing kits contain a pre-wax cleanser, applicator, paraffin wax, wax warmer, and pellon or muslin strips. In addition to these items, you should also prepare baby powder, tweezers, small scissors and baby oil which is good for removing wax if it hits unwanted areas.
Step 2. Pull the hair back
Shape and trim eyebrows. If your eyebrows are less than 3 centimeters long, your eyebrows are not long enough to wax.
Step 3. Clean both eyebrows with the cleanser included in this device
Wipe the cleaner with a damp cloth. Then, sprinkle a little baby powder in one palm, take a little with the other hand and sprinkle it on both eyebrows. This helps to absorb excess moisture so that the cloth strip adheres well to the applied wax.
Step 4. Heat the wax as directed
If you don't have a wax warmer in your appliance, you can heat it in the microwave or in a container heated on the stove.
Step 5. Start by smoothing the upper eyebrows with wax
For safety reasons, wax only one eyebrow at a time so you can concentrate on what you're doing. If you feel your hand isn't very steady, stop the process and have someone else do it for you. With the applicator provided, apply the wax in the direction of the growth of the eyebrows. Make sure the wax covers the entire area, but not too much.
Step 6. Cover the waxed area with one of the available strips
Leave the end of the strip free of wax so you can pull it off. With your fingers, rub the strip in the direction your eyebrows are growing in. Let this strip rest for a few seconds.
Step 7. Remove the strip with a single pull in the direction opposite to where the eyebrows are growing
But don't pull it up. Just pull it straight to the side. If any feathers remain, replace the strip and pull again. Be careful because if you're not used to plucking your eyebrows, it can be a little painful.
To get rid of skin redness, apply a skin-soothing moisturizer to your eyebrows. You can also use aloe vera liquid. After a few minutes, wipe off this moisturizer or liquid
Step 8. Repeat these steps for the hairs that are under the eyebrows
If there are excess hairs, remove them with tweezers. If any wax remains, clean it with baby oil. Follow these same steps to wax the other eyebrow.
Tips
If you're afraid this process will be painful, you can buy a numbing spray to spray on the area to be treated before starting
Warning
- Waxing the same area more than twice can be painful and damage the skin. If there are still untidy hairs left after doing this twice, use tweezers to pluck them out.
- For safety reasons, perform this procedure in front of a large mirror, not a small mirror that you have to hold with your hands.
