This article will guide you to create a ball in Google SketchUp.
Step
Method 1 of 2: From the Circle

Step 1. Download Google SketchUp at
More information about Google SketchUp can be found at this link.

Step 2. Draw a circle the size of the ball you want on one axis

Step 3. Draw a circle that is larger than the first circle in another axis, and place the center of the circle exactly in the center of the first circle
You may need to heighten the circle on the blue axis, and use the Move tool to move the circle to the center of the first circle.

Step 4. Make sure no objects are selected, then select the larger circle

Step 5. Click Follow Me, then single click the smaller circle

Step 6. Erase the unused large circle
Method 2 of 2: From the Box

Step 1. Keep in mind that making a ball out of squares will take longer, and the resulting ball won't be as "smooth" as a ball made of circles
However, the apparent dynamics of a ball made from a box will be different.

Step 2. Open SketchUp, then make a 20 inch x 20 inch square

Step 3. Cut the square into four equilateral parts with the Pencil tool

Step 4. Draw a circle on the square in the center, then set the diameter of the circle to 10 inches
Make sure the circle hits the corner of the box.

Step 5. Erase the line that divides the inside of the circle

Step 6. Create a new line 10 inches in diameter with the Arc tool to replace the deleted line
Rotate the view so that the line is pointing up.

Step 7. Draw the same line at the bottom of the image

Step 8. Erase the line dividing the square, but leave the circle alone

Step 9. Delete the original half circle and the inner circle made from the Arc tool

Step 10. Click Follow Me, then drag the cut circle to the circle made from the Arc tool
After that, delete or hide the lines that appear on the surface.
