There are three types of LG phones. Bar phone is a smart phone that uses a touch screen. Slide phone is a phone with a touch screen and a keyboard that can be removed by sliding. Flip phones are not smart phones, and users can open the phone to receive a call and fold it back to end the call. Each type of cell phone is turned on in a different way.

Determining the Type of Phone
Step 1. Determine the type of LG phone you are using
- If your phone has a touch screen and no additional keyboard, then it is a bar phone.
- If your phone has a touch screen and an additional keyboard that slides out, it's a slide phone.
- If your phone can be opened and folded, then it is a flip phone.
Method 1 of 4: Turning On Bar Phone
Step 1. Make sure that the phone battery is charged
One of the things that might cause the phone to not turn on is a drain on the battery. Connect your phone to the charging adapter that you got when you bought your phone.
You can also charge your phone battery by connecting it to a computer via a USB cable
Step 2. Turn on the phone
Most LG bar phones have the power button located on the back of the phone, in the middle, just below the camera lens. Press and hold the power button to turn on the phone. Stop pressing buttons when the screen is on.
- To turn off the phone, press and hold the power button on the back of the phone.
- Most older LG bar phones have a power button on the top right. Press and hold the power button to turn on the phone.
Method 2 of 4: Turn on Slide Phone
Step 1. Make sure that the phone battery is charged

Step 2. Turn on the phone
On LG slide phones, the power button (Power/End) is always on the front of the phone, which is on the bottom right. The button has a curved line symbol with a circle below it. To turn it on, press the power button until the screen lights up, then stop pressing the button.
To turn off the phone, press the power button until the screen turns off
Method 3 of 4: Turn on the Flip Phone
Step 1. Make sure that the phone battery is charged

Step 2. Turn on the phone
The LG flip phone can be turned on and off using the hang up button. Open the flip phone, then press and hold the hang up button until the screen lights up.
To turn off the phone, press and hold the hang up button until the screen turns off

Step 1. Visit the LG website
Click the link to visit the LG user helper site.
Step 2. Enter the model number of your phone
In the Enter model number field, enter your phone's model number or name, then click Search.
- If you don't know the phone model number or name, look for the SEARCH BY CATEGORY section, then click Mobile, and click CELL PHONES. In the SUB CATEGORY list, find the type of phone you have, then click on it. In the MODEL NUMBER list, find the model number of the phone, click on it, and scroll down to find a link to the phone's user guide.
