Method 1 of 3: Making Oreo Ice Cream from Scratch
Step 1. Prepare the ice cream maker
Read and follow the instructions on the ice cream maker. You'll need to prepare everything in different ways, depending on the type of ice cream maker you have. Some methods will take longer than others. Prepare the ice cream maker well in advance to make sure all the ingredients and tools are ready when it's time to process the ice cream. For example:
- With some ice cream makers, you'll need to add salt and ice to the jar. On the other hand, you'll need to freeze the mixing bowl in the freezer for a few hours.
- Some ice cream makers must be turned manually by hand, while others must use electricity.
Step 2. Mix milk and cream
Combine 2 cups heavy cream and 1 cup milk in a large bowl. Stir a little to mix it up.
Step 3. Add sugar, salt and vanilla extract
Add cup of sugar and teaspoon of salt to the milk and cream mixture. Stir with a spoon or a whisk until the sugar melts. Do not let the grains of salt or sugar remain. It will take you a few minutes to dissolve everything. Finally, then add 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract and stir until the color is even.
Step 4. Put the bowl in the fridge
Once all the ingredients are mixed, place the bowl in the fridge to keep it cool while you prepare the biscuits and ice cream maker.
Step 5. Crush the Oreo biscuits
To make Oreo ice cream, you will need to add powdered Oreo biscuits. Crush enough Oreos to get 1 cup Oreo powder. You can crush these biscuits in several ways:
- Place the biscuits in a blender or food processor and run the machine for a few seconds. If you want finer flakes, continue blending for a few more seconds.
- Chop all the biscuits with a knife into small pieces.
- Place the biscuits in a large sealed bag, then mash with a fork or roll with a rolling pin.
- Crush the biscuits with your hands.
Step 6. Pour the ice cream mixture into the mixing bowl
Take the mixer bowl from the ice cream maker and fill it with the mixture. Don't fill it too much, as the ice cream will expand as it freezes. Instead, only fill the bowl halfway. If necessary, store the remaining ice cream mixture in the refrigerator.
Step 7. Stir in the ice cream
Follow the instructions in the ice cream maker's manual, as each tool is different. Some tools must be turned manually by hand, while others are automatic. This process takes about 20 minutes to several hours.
If you don't have an ice cream maker, just pour the ice cream mixture into a short container and place it in the freezer. Stir the mixture every 30 minutes, and put it back in the freezer. Repeat this step 4-5 times until the ice cream is frozen
Step 8. Add the biscuits and continue to mix
Add the Oreo biscuits just before the ice cream is done, then continue to mix.
Step 9. Transfer the ice cream to a container
Once the ice cream is well mixed and frozen, you can place it in a freezer-friendly container. If the ice cream mixture remains, you can put it in a mixer bowl and make more ice cream.
Method 2 of 3: Making Oreo Ice Cream in a Plastic Bag
Step 1. Prepare two sealed plastic bags
You will need two different sized plastic bags: a small and a large one. The small bag will be used to put the ice cream mixture, while the large one is used to put the ice and salt. Choose a bag whose seal can be opened and closed again.
If you're worried about leaks, use two layers of plastic bags. Put one small bag into another small bag. You can also fit a large bag into another bag of the same size. This double plastic provides extra protection and helps prevent liquids from seeping out and soiling your hands
Step 2. Fill the small bag with the ice cream ingredients
Pour cup half-and-half cream or heavy cream into a small sealed bag. Add 1 tablespoon (14 ml) of sugar and teaspoon of vanilla extract.
- If you want the ice cream to be less sweet, use less sugar and vanilla flavour.
- Place the bag in a small bowl to make it stand steady, then add the ice cream ingredients.
Step 3. Seal the small pouch
After all the ingredients are put in a small bag, seal it. As much as possible remove all the air from the bag when you want to seal it. You can do this by partially closing the seal, then blowing air through the remaining opening, and then closing the rest of the seal completely.
If you're worried about it leaking, put the bag in another bag of the same size after you've sealed it. Also close the seal on the second bag
Step 4. Fill a large bag with salt and ice and seal it
Add 3 cups ice and 1/3 cup salt to a large bag, and stir the contents. Fill the bag with ice only halfway. If it's too full, remove some of the ice. There should be enough space to fit a small pouch into it.
You can use any salt, but larger salt crystals are better
Step 5. Place the small bag in the large bag of ice and salt and seal it
Set aside some of the ice cubes in the large bag, then tuck the smaller bag between the ice. This small bag should be surrounded by ice. Once the small pouch fits inside, seal the large pouch.
- If you're worried about the liquid seeping and splattering, put the large bag of ice and salt in another bag.
- If the bag is too cold to handle, wrap it in a towel or wear gloves.
Step 6. Shake and knead the bag
Once the small bag is placed in the large bag and both are tightly sealed, shake and knead the bag. Do this for 10 to 15 minutes.
Step 7. Take out the small pouch
Once the ice cream mixture is solid, remove the small bag and discard the large bag filled with ice and salt. Your ice cream is almost done.
Step 8. Crush the Oreo biscuits
If your Oreo cookies haven't been crushed or crushed, do so now. The size of the crushed flakes is up to you. It can also be a combination of large and small sizes. Generally the splinter should be smaller than your thumb. You can crush or crush biscuits in several ways:
- Place the biscuits in a blender or food processor and blend until you get the texture you want.
- Chop all the biscuits with a knife into small flakes.
- Place the biscuits in a large sealed bag, then mash with a mixer or roll with a rolling pin.
- Crush the biscuits with your hands. The result will usually be in the form of large chunks.
Step 9. Put the biscuits in the ice cream
Dip the biscuit flakes into the ice cream, then stir with a spoon or spatula. You can add as many biscuits as you want.
Method 3 of 3: Make No Shake Oreo Ice Cream
Step 1. Stir in heavy cream or whipped cream
Pour 2 cups cold heavy cream or cold whipped cream into a large bowl and mix with an electronic mixer for 3 minutes or until peaks form and cream is stiff.
If you don't have an electronic mixer, use a food processor that has a whisk
Step 2. Add sweetened condensed milk
Add 1 can (or 400 grams) of cold sweetened condensed milk to the whipped cream and stir. If you want to add vanilla flavor, just add 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract and stir until the color is even.
Step 3. Crush the Oreo biscuits
You will need about cup of powdered Oreos. The size of the crushed flakes is up to you. But in general, the splinter should be smaller than the thumb. It can also be a combination of large and small sizes. Crumble about 5-10 biscuits at a time, instead of all at once. You can crush or crush biscuits in several ways:
- Place the biscuits in a blender or food processor and blend for a few seconds. This way, the biscuits will be finely ground.
- Chop the entire biscuit with a knife into smaller pieces. This way, you will get results big and small.
- Place the biscuits in a large sealed bag, then mash with a mixer or roll with a rolling pin.
- Crush the biscuits with your hands. The result will usually be in the form of large chunks.
Step 4. Put the biscuits into the ice cream mixture
Dip the biscuit flakes into the ice cream, then stir with a spoon or spatula. Stir and mix constantly until the biscuits are spread throughout the ice cream mixture. The consistency of the mixture should be even.
Step 5. Freeze the ice cream
Transfer the ice cream mixture to a freezer-friendly container and place in the freezer. Freeze the mixture for at least 6 hours.
