Seafood is equally delicious when enjoyed frozen or fresh. Most seafood is frozen immediately upon acquisition, both to kill parasites and to preserve them. With this quick freezing process, even perishable seafood can be cooked frozen right away. You can cook frozen salmon in the pan, in the oven, or in the grill.
Ingredients
- Slice of salmon
- Two tablespoons of olive or canola oil
- Herbs and spices
Step
Method 1 of 3: Cooking Frozen Salmon in a Frying Pan
Step 1. Remove the salmon pieces from the freezer
Wash thoroughly with cold water to remove any ice that builds up. Then, dry with a paper towel or clean cloth.
Step 2. Spread olive oil or other oil of your choice on both sides of the fish
Avoid using butter or coconut oil as they tend to burn at high temperatures.
Step 3. Heat a large skillet over medium heat
Step 4. Place the salmon pieces on the skillet with the crusts down
Wait three to four minutes. Turn over and sprinkle the top with seasonings to your liking.
Step 5. Cover the pan and reduce the heat
Cook for six to eight minutes. The salmon is cooked when it turns a light pink color.
Method 2 of 3: Grilling Frozen Salmon in the Oven
Step 1. Preheat the oven to 230 degrees Celsius
Step 2. Remove salmon from freezer. Wash in cold water
Dry with kitchen paper or a clean cloth.
Step 3. Brush both sides with olive oil, canola oil, peanut oil, or grapeseed oil
Do not use butter or corn oil as they are flammable.
Step 4. Arrange the salmon on a nonstick or parchment-lined baking sheet
Step 5. Put the salmon in the oven and cook for four minutes
This step will remove the water on the surface of the fish.
Step 6. Remove the salmon and place it on the oven
Brush the top of the salmon with butter, herbs, sauce, or other spices. You can also use the regular grilled salmon recipe.
Step 7. Put the salmon back in the oven
Cook for another 10 to 15 minutes, depending on the size. Very large pieces may take longer.
Method 3 of 3: Grilling Frozen Salmon Using the Grill
Step 1. Preheat the grill to 200 degrees Celsius
Step 2. Remove the salmon from the freezer
Wash in cold water to remove any ice that builds up. Dry with kitchen paper or a clean cloth.
Step 3. Spread the aluminum foil, then grease it with oil
Place the salmon with the skin on the bottom, on the aluminum foil.
Step 4. Brush both sides with olive or canola oil
Step 5. Fold the right and left sides of the foil, then fold the bottom a few times to wrap the salmon
Step 6. Place the salmon on the grill for 10 minutes, with the folds facing down
Take it out, then open it.
Step 7. Add seasonings, sauces, or marinades
Wrap it back.
Step 8. Put the salmon back in the grill
Cook for 10 minutes.
Step 9. Remove the salmon, checking to make sure it turns a light pink color
Larger pieces require longer cooking time.
Tips
- When cooking in the oven, turn on the broiler for two to five minutes at the end of the cooking session to give the salmon a grilling effect.
- You can apply the above method without a special recipe. Simply sprinkle with salt and pepper, minced garlic, lemon juice, and one to two tablespoons of capers.
