Does your room look like it's just been hit by a hurricane, the door can't be opened, piles of clothes are scattered everywhere, and the closet is full of junk? With such conditions how can you get enough space to move? Cleaning a really messy room requires determination and a systematic approach so that you can clear up all the mess. Trust me, the job can be done. You just need to get started!
Step
Method 1 of 7: Taking the First Step
Step 1. Get motivated
Staring at a messy room and complaining will do nothing. Imagine how nice it would be if you woke up in a tidy room or could find the things you need in an instant!
Notice what's causing the mess in your room? Look for the root cause. Finding out in advance what makes a messy room can be a good start. That way, you can clean it properly. Once you know the root of the problem, you are ready to start cleaning your room
Method 2 of 7: Handling Stacks
Step 1. Put the dirty clothes in their place
After that, then you tidy up the clothes, toys, and so on that may be scattered everywhere. Actually, there's not much to do, you just need to clear up the most difficult parts. Pick up dirty clothes that are scattered on the floor and put them in a plastic bag or laundry basket, if you have one. Separate clean clothes and pile them up somewhere. Soiled clothes that have been collected should not be left in the laundry basket. You have to wash it! Put unused hangers in the closet.
Step 2. Collect all the toys
If you are a teenager, and are reading this article as a guide, collect all the toys and consider the following; Do you still want to keep it? Are the toys still in good condition to donate? Collect toys according to three categories: toys to keep, toys to throw away, and toys to donate. Now remove all the sorted toys from the room. We'll deal with that later.
Step 3. Clean up dirty plates and glasses
One of the causes that make the room messy is dirty plates and glasses. There were probably dirty glasses here and there with leftover stale milk, and plates full of ketchup marks. If you are having problems with ants, cockroaches or other insects living in your room, read the “Tips” section. After collecting all the dirty plates and glasses, take them to the sink and wash them. Make sure you wash it well. Once clean, put the plates and glasses back in the cupboard for other family members to use. Then, take a sponge and clean up any marks left by glasses (since you didn't use a coaster) or food and drink spills. Safe! You've finished the dirtiest part. Now you are ready to take the next step.
Step 4. Arrange the materials to make crafts
If you never created anything, skip this step. Craft materials include paper, stationery (pens, pencils, scissors, rulers), and other items you can use for creative hobbies. If you really like crafts, buy a special drawer to store all the craft materials.
Method 3 of 7: Dust Cleaning
Step 1. Collect all the books and clean them from dust
Make sure you check all the pages of the book and open the crease at the end of the book that is usually used to mark pages. Arrange the clean books back on the shelves. If you don't have a bookshelf in your room, set it aside first (where you put your clothes and toys).
If you want a really neat room, organize your books by size, from smallest to largest, or alphabetically, and so on
Step 2. If you have a television in your room, use a paper towel or rag to clean any dust off the screen and other parts
Keep the remote in a place that is easy to remember.
Method 4 of 7: Put Things In Place
Step 1. Store the clothes in the closet
Stack neatly. Then, take the toys that you still want to keep and arrange them in the room according to your taste. You can give away the toys that will be donated tomorrow (if you don't have time to do it that day). You can handle the book once you find a place to put it.
Step 2. Hang the clothes and store them in the closet
Clothes piled up in the laundry basket are not a pretty sight and are not in line with your goal of tidying up your room.
Step 3. Arrange the shoes
Make sure everything is clean and odorless.
Step 4. Close the cupboard/drawer door
If you're having trouble closing it, rearrange the stuff inside.
Method 5 of 7: Tidying Up Shelves
Step 1. Arrange all the items on the shelves into piles
For example: important papers on one side, art supplies maybe on the other, stationery on the other side, and items that are no longer useful go into the trash.
Step 2. Wipe off the dust stuck to the shelf with a wet tissue
Let the rack dry on its own, or wipe it with a clean cloth or paper towel.
Step 3. Rearrange the items that have been separated into piles onto the shelves
Method 6 of 7: Cleaning Pets' Shelters
Step 1. If you have pets, clean the cage/aquarium
Clean the cage at least once a week, for the sake of your pet's health.
- If you keep fish, make sure the water in the tank is clean. If the water is dirty, read this article on How to Clean an Aquarium. After cleaning the aquarium, feed the fish. Make sure the fish are in good health.
- If you have a bird, take it out for a while and clean the cage. Replace the newspaper under the cage (or sand if you use one) with a new one. If the cage still smells, take a sponge and clean the inside and outside of the cage again. Put the bird toy back in the cage, along with your pet bird. Now, the cage is clean!
- If you have reptiles, such as iguanas, turtles, snakes, etc., clean up the droppings. If you like turtles, read this article on How to Take Care of Tortoises.
- Maybe you have rabbits too. Then read the following article: How to Take Care of Rabbits.
Method 7 of 7: Finishing the Job
Step 1. Make the bed
After tidying up most of the rooms, there may not be much more scattered on the bed. To make the bed, read the guide in the following article: How to Make a Bed.
Step 2. Tidy the blinds or blinds
If the bedroom window has blinds, you can simply wipe the dust. If you use curtains, you must wash them.
Step 3. Complete the remaining work
Dispose of trash in the trash can and remove it from the room. If you want, you can spray an air freshener to make the room feel fresher.
Step 4. Give yourself a gift
After all the work is done, you can sit back and give yourself credit. Keep the room clean and tidy. Don't let you have to clean the room one more time!
Tips
- Start as early as possible. The earlier you start working, the sooner you can get back to doing other fun activities.
- Spray some air freshener, or burn some scented incense, or turn on an air freshener to freshen the room air.
- Try to clean your room at least once a week so it doesn't get super messy again!
- Use Clorox to wipe down cabinets, bookshelves, or bedside tables.
- Make sure the room is free of insects. Ants and cockroaches can be a problem. Some people feel disgusted and the animal can also contaminate food. If you find the animal in your room, try to get it out of the house before it enters the kitchen and eats your favorite cereal. Use insect killer spray if necessary.
- Keep your phone out of the room so you're not tempted to check your messages, email, and so on. If you use your phone to play music, lock it! Cell phones can interfere with concentration at work.
- Try to keep the room tidy after you bother to clean it.
- Play music while you tidy up or clean your room. Music will excite you.
- Does your room have windows? Use a glass cleaner and scrub until it's shiny. To clean the frame, use a damp cloth.
- Divide the room into several parts and tidy up one by one until everything is neat.
Warning
- Be careful when using hot water and chemicals, especially if you have small children around.
- Turn on the lights so you don't stumble!
- Make sure you unplug the TV when cleaning it. Don't get electrocuted.
