Clogs are a common cause of washing machines not draining water. Below are easy steps to repair your washing machine.

Step 1. Read the troubleshooting guide

Most washing machines come with a troubleshooting manual. If there are signs of damage to your washing machine, read the manual to identify the problem. The fault code for a non-drying machine is F9E1, but your washing machine may have a different code. If the manual suggests replacing the pump, you need to call a repair service or read How to Replace a Washing Machine Water Pump.

Step 2. Check the drain hose

Remove the hose from the back of the washing machine. Run the inside of the hose with high pressure water (an outdoor water hose is a good choice). If there is a blockage in the hose, the water pressure will push the blockage out of the hose.

Replace the washing machine hose. Make sure the connection height to the washing machine is not more than 2.5 m from the floor, the end of the drain hose only goes about 11 cm deep into the water hole, the water hole is not closed, and the hose is not twisted or bent. These things can affect the length of the water disposal process

Step 4. Clean the pump

First, disconnect the washer from the power source. Next, find the location of the pump. Generally this pump is located at the back for top loading washing machines or at the front under the door for front loading washing machines. You may have to remove the panel to reach the pump. Once you find the pump, it has a round section inside with an oval handle in the middle. This component is probably made of white plastic.

Step 5. Turn the handle counterclockwise to remove the filter

Don't be afraid to press because the cover is very tight. Prepare a bucket and a towel to collect the water that comes out. Inside, you may find lots of lint, coins, and scraps of cloth or socks.

Step 6. Clean the filter and rinse

Insert your finger into the hole to the right of the filter and make sure that nothing is stuck in the pump fan and that the blades rotate freely, install the filter, turn it clockwise until it snaps into place, and replace the panel you removed earlier.

Step 7. Run the rinse/spin process on the washing machine

Your water washer should be able to drain water quickly. If not, then your washing machine pump needs to be replaced. In this case, you should contact a repair service or read How to Replace a Washing Machine Water Pump.

Tips

  • Prepare a bucket and a towel. When you remove the pump filter, all the water in the washing machine will flow out.
  • If your laundry room is small, you may need to move your washing machine to a larger space, such as a yard or garage.
  • Always check the drain hose on the washing machine! It is easy to clog, especially when washing with hot water. When the hose is running hot water, sometimes the hose "melts" or softens, and eventually, causes a blockage.

Warning

  • Always unplug any electronic equipment from the power source before you repair it!
  • If you suddenly have doubts while repairing the machine and are afraid that you will damage the machine, stop and then contact a professional service. Calling a repair service is cheaper than buying a new washing machine.
