There are various ways to wear the hijab. The basic triangle method will make your hijab last all day, making it a great choice for school or work. If you're looking for a more mature and fashionable option, try using a pashmina for a more elegant look with side embroideries. If you want the quickest option, consider purchasing an Al-Amira hijab that consists of one or two pieces that you can tuck straight on your head, without the need for additional layers of hijab or safety pins.
Step
Method 1 of 3: Basic Triangle Style
Step 1. Select a rectangular hijab
This method works well with a lightweight rectangular hijab made of any fabric. Choose light satin or cotton fabrics that are suitable for summer wear, and heavier woolen fabrics that are warmer for winter. You will also need two safety pins or needles for the hijab.
Step 2. Fold the top right corner of the hijab to the bottom left corner
The folded hijab is now shaped like a triangle.
Step 3. Place the hijab over your head
The widest part of the triangle should fall at the top of your forehead, while the two corners of the triangle should drape over your shoulders. The third corner of the triangle is at the back of your head.
Step 4. Pinch the edges of the hijab under your chin
Open your mouth to form an O shape as you pinch the edges of the scarf, so that your jaw will have room to move once the hijab is put on. Pin the hijab under your chin.
Step 5. Cross the corners of the hijab over your neck
Cross the left side to the right, and the right side to the left. Drape the ends of the hijab over your shoulders.
Step 6. Tie the ends of the hijab behind your head
Lift up the back corner of the hijab and tie the two ends of the hijab at the back of your head, then lower and cover the tied part with the back corner of the hijab.
Step 7. Adjust as necessary
Make sure the hijab is straight and securely in place.
Method 2 of 3: Side Embedded Style
Step 1. Choose a rectangular hijab
A pashmina or another large rectangular hijab is suitable for this style. You will also need a needle.
Step 2. Drape the hijab over your head
The edges of the hijab should go past the top of your forehead, with the sides of the hijab hanging over your shoulders. Arrange the hijab so that one side hangs twice as low as the other.
Step 3. Wrap the long ends of the hijab around your chin and over your head
Hang the end of the hijab over your other shoulder.
Step 4. Pin the ends of the hijab to the side of your head
Use a needle or hijab pin to hold the hijab in place.
Step 5. Adjust the hijab as necessary
The hijab will look as if it forms a long circle that runs around your head and under your chin. Make sure your hijab is securely attached and will not come off.
Method 3 of 3: Hijab Al-Amira One or Two Parts
Step 1. Choose an Al-Amira hijab one or two parts
The one-piece version is made with a hole in the middle, so you can easily slip the hijab over your head. The two-part version also includes a headscarf for extra covering over your head.
Step 2. Wear the hijab under your head
Use it like when you wear a hairband or headband. The inside of the hijab should be above your forehead, for extra cover there. If you have a one-piece Al-Amira hijab, you can skip this step.
Step 3. Push your head through the hole in the hijab
Arrange so that your face is surrounded by the hijab, and the folds of the hijab are draped over your shoulders, chest and back.
Step 4. Adjust the folds of the hijab for comfort
Make sure the hijab is securely attached and will not fall off.
