Summer-style wavy hair (beachy wave) is a hairstyle that is easy to maintain and is currently popular. Rummaging your hair can increase its volume while preventing it from tangling. To get this look, it's best if your hair is slightly damp. Use a towel or diffuser to remove some of the moisture. Then, run your fingers through your hair in a tousled motion while using styling products. Add a coat of hairspray and you're done styling that lasts all day.
Step
Method 1 of 3: Using Towels and Hair Care Products
Step 1. Shampoo and condition hair
Use a volumizing shampoo and massage it into your hair well before rinsing it. Apply conditioner so that it can soak into your hair for a few minutes before rinsing.
If you have tangles in your hair, trim them so they don't look messy after you mess them up. Untangle all the tangles in your hair using a wide-toothed comb when showering. It's easier to do this while the conditioner is still in your hair
Step 2. Dry your hair with a towel
Separate the hair into small sections using your hands. Take one small piece at a time and tuck it into the towel. Then, press the towel to squeeze out the excess water in the hair. Repeat until you have finished all sections of hair.
- You can also use a cotton t-shirt to absorb excess water from your hair. Many people say that light fabric is better for producing nice waves and reducing frizz. If you have curly hair in the first place, the T-shirt will also prevent it from breaking.
- You can also use a microfiber cloth as if you were wearing a T-shirt.
- To add texture to your hair, you can use a towel and wrap it around your head like a turban right after you shower. Leave it for 2 minutes. The heat from the bath water will start to create waves in your hair.
Step 3. Turn the hair upside down
Bend over and let your hair fall to the floor. Gently run your fingers through the underside of the exposed hair, and untangle any tangles. You can use a towel to continue drying all the damp parts of your hair. However, most of the processes in this step should be done only with your bare hands.
Step 4. Use a curl enhancing product
While your head is still hunched down, pour a coin-sized amount of styling mousse in one hand, then run it between your hands. After that, ruffle your hair, starting from the roots of the hair. Your hand movements should be like squeezing paper. Come back to your feet and continue to run the mousse through your hair.
- Mousse is not your only option. You can also use other products, such as gels, sprays, or serums. Just choose a product that claims to hold your hair in place, especially if your hair is thin or straight.
- Don't rub mousse or other products into the ends of your hair, as this will make them look greasy and heavy.
Step 5. Push a small section of hair towards the scalp
Once you're done using the product, continue to move your hands in a squeezing motion through your hair. For the area around the face, squeeze accurately by placing a small section of hair in your hand and folding it like an accordion before removing it.
Step 6. Air dry hair
Repeat kneading your entire hair every 5-10 minutes until your hair feels dry to the touch. It's best not to use a hairdryer to speed up the drying process as it can straighten the waves that have already been created.
Method 2 of 3: Creating Extra Texture Using Hair Clips
Step 1. Dry your hair with a towel
If your hair is wet after a shower, take a towel and dry it in small sections. Place each section of hair in the towel, then press gently until all the remaining water is absorbed by the towel. Repeat until all hair feels damp and not soaking.
Step 2. Pin the hair to add curl
After drying with a towel, take a few small to medium size butterfly hair clips. Fold a small section of hair and hold it on the scalp using hair clips. Place the clamps irregularly to get the beach wave look. Here's another way to add extra texture while your hair is airing.
- If you don't have a butterfly hair clip, you can also curl your hair into a mini bun on your head. Hold this bun using hair clips or hair tie.
- You can make as many buns or ruffles as you want. A small number of buns will result in larger, sparse waves, while a smaller number of buns will create small, tight curls.
Step 3. Spray hairspray
While the clamp is still attached to the hair, prepare a hairspray that is able to hold the hair firmly. Spray on hair evenly. Keep your hair pinned for 30 minutes after spraying. This will allow enough time for the hair to curl.
- Depending on how quickly your hair dries, it may be necessary to leave the curler in place for more than 30 minutes.
- Try to use hairspray that makes hair feel smooth after use. Some hairsprays can leave a brittle and rough texture.
Step 4. Open the hair clip
Remove the hair clips one by one. Use your fingers to open the hair and pull it slightly straight down. When all the pins are removed, run your fingers through your hair at least once. Also describe all the rough parts due to hairspray.
- Whatever you do, don't comb your hair with a brush or comb. This will straighten the curls and make your hair look frizzy.
- If you're not 100% satisfied with the finished result, feel free to take a shortcut and use a curling iron to add definition to your hair.
Step 5. Apply hair gel or serum to the ends of the hair
Pour a coin-sized amount of gel or hair serum onto your fingertips. Rub the product into the ends of your hair. This trick will make the ends of your hair look shiny and bright, instead of dull and pale. This trick also helps prevent tangles.
Method 3 of 3: Using a Diffuser
Step 1. Attach the long-fingered diffuser head to the hairdryer
The diffuser is a head mounted at the end of the air outlet on the hair dryer. You can buy it online or in person at a beauty product store. Most diffusers have a wide mouth with a bowl or cup at the end where the air collects. Diffusers are a quick way to get a random look without doing too much damage to your hair.
The diffuser helps to even out the puff of airflow
Step 2. Set the hair dryer's speed and temperature settings to low
It is important to use a low heat setting to prevent creasing. A low setting will also keep your hair from getting damaged or burnt when blow-dried.
Step 3. Dry your hair with a diffuser
Bow your head and place sections of hair into the bowl of the diffuser. Try to keep the diffuser 5-7.5 cm from the scalp.
As you move the diffuser, ruffle the hair with your fingers. This is the most ideal option to replace drying your hair with a towel immediately after taking a shower
Step 4. Use hairspray or hair gel
When the hair is 80% dry from the diffuser, flip it over. Then, lift the hair slightly from the scalp and spray it with hairspray. You can also pour a coin-sized amount of styling gel into your hand and run it from around the base of your hair to the tips.
Hair gel can hold hair stronger. However, you can also make it look greasy if you use it too much. If you use a light coat of hairspray, you may need to reapply it throughout the day to keep your hair from getting tangled
Tips
- If you want to freshen up your hair when it's out, just spritz some water on it. Then, shuffle using your fingertips.
- Some people also braid their hair at night to create a wavy texture. When you wake up in the morning, the braid is removed and the hair is outlined using your fingers.
Warning
- Do not use too much hairspray or gel. Your hair will look dry or greasy and feel heavy and messy before you head home.
- Make sure the hairspray doesn't get into your eyes so it doesn't sting.
