Ingredients
- 100 grams (3/4 cup) medium protein flour (all purpose flour)
- 100 grams (1/2 cup) caster sugar
- 100 grams (1/2 cup) oil
- 3 eggs, optional
- 2 tablespoons cocoa powder (if you want to make chocolate cake)
- 1 teaspoon vanilla essence (optional)
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/4 cup milk
Step
Step 1. Preheat the oven to 185 degrees Celsius
Step 2. Sift flour and baking powder in a bowl
Step 3. Add cocoa powder and set aside (if you are making chocolate cake)
Step 4. Beat the eggs
Step 5. Add sugar to eggs and beat until smooth
Step 6. Add oil then beat again until smooth
Step 7. Add vanilla essence if you want
Step 8. Add the flour mixture to the mixture and mix slowly (don't use a mixer when stirring the flour)
Then add milk (sometimes milk needs to be added or reduced. Milk keeps cakes from drying out and not being too hard).
Step 9. Set aside the cake batter
Step 10. Prepare a square or round tin then put baking paper
If you don't have parchment paper, grease the inside of the pan with margarine or cooking spray then sprinkle with flour
Step 11. Put the dough into the pan
Step 12. Put the cake batter in the oven for 1 hour
Step 13. After an hour, pierce the center of the cake with a toothpick
If when removed, nothing sticks to the toothpick, it means the cake is done. If it's not done yet, bake for a few more minutes.
