Apple has consolidated all services into one account called Apple ID (including iTunes purchases). If you have an account specifically created for iTunes, it's now changed to an Apple ID, and has the exact same functionality. You can quickly change your password using the Apple ID website on your iOS device or computer.

Method 1 of 3: Changing Password (iPhone, iPod, iPad)
Step 1. Sign in to iCloud
If you know your current password, you can change your iTunes password directly on your iPhone. If you have forgotten your current password, see how to Reset a Forgotten Password.
- Open the Settings app, then tap "iCloud".
- Tap your Apple ID. This is the Apple ID used to sign in to the iPhone at this time. Use a computer if you want to change the password for another account.
- Enter the password when prompted, then tap "OK". You won't be prompted for your password when you use two-factor authentication and sign in on a trusted device.
Step 2. Open the “Change Password” screen
Now you are ready to verify your identity.
- Tap "Password & Security".
- Tap "Change Password".
Step 3. Answer the security question
Tap on “Verify” after you have typed the answer.
Security questions will not be asked if you are using a trusted device
Step 4. Create a new password
Enter the password twice to confirm. Your new password will take effect immediately, and you will be logged out of all associated devices until you log back in using the new password.
Method 2 of 3: Changing Password (on Any Device)
Step 1. Click the "Change Password" link in Apple ID security settings
Once your iTunes account is merged into your Apple ID, you'll need to use the Apple ID website to change your password. Apple ID is the email address that is used to sign in to iTunes.
- Launch a web browser and visit appleid.apple.com.
- Sign in with your Apple ID and password. If you've forgotten your password, see how to Reset a Forgotten Password.
- Click the "Change Password" link in the "Security" section.
Step 2. Verify your identity
The options provided to verify your identity will vary depending on the security options on your account:
- Answer your security questions. These two questions are created when you set up your account, and must be answered before you can proceed.
- Confirm your number - This will be displayed when you enable two-factor authentication on your account. A notification containing the code will be sent to your phone. Enter the code on the Apple ID site to continue the process with resetting the password.
Step 3. Create a new password
Enter the current password in the first field, then enter the new password twice to create it.
When you create a new password, you will be logged out of all associated devices. Use the new password to log back into the device
Method 3 of 3: Resetting Forgotten Password
Step 1. Enter your Apple ID at iforgot.apple.com
This Apple password reset site will guide you through the Apple ID reset process (this is the new name to replace iTunes account).
- Launch a web browser and visit iforgot.apple.com.
- Type in the email address you use to sign in to iTunes (this is your Apple ID).
- Click "Continue".
Step 2. Choose a way to verify identity
There are several ways to verify that you are the owner of the account. The options provided will vary depending on the security options in the account:
- Get an email (get email) - You will receive a message at your primary or rescue email address. The primary email address is usually used to create an Apple ID, although you can change it later. Click the link in the email to reset your password. You may have to wait a few minutes for the email to arrive. If you're using Gmail, it's possible that the email will be in the "Updates" tab.
- Answer security questions (answer security question) - If you select this option, you must answer the 2 security questions that you set when you created your account. If you've forgotten the answer, you can reset it if you have a rescue email address associated with your Apple ID. Once the question has been answered, you can create a new password.
- Confirm your number (confirm mobile number) - This option is displayed when two-factor authentication has been enabled for your account, and you have a trusted associated device. You must enter a confirmed mobile number for verification. You will receive a notification on your trusted iOS device. Tap "Allow", then enter the device passcode to reset the Apple ID password.
- Enter recovery key (enter recovery key) - This option is only shown if you have enabled two-step verification for your account. Enter the recovery key that was generated when you enabled two-step verification. Next, you'll receive a code on your trusted device, which was also activated when you set up two-step verification. Once the code has been entered, you can reset the password. If you forget your recovery key and don't know the password, the account will be locked.
Step 3. Create a new password
Enter the new password twice to confirm.
- Your new password will take effect immediately, and you will be logged out of all associated devices. You must log in again using the new password.
- There's nothing wrong with writing down your password and keeping it in a safe place, like your workspace at home, so you can use it in an emergency.
