Glitter bombs come in a variety of shapes, sizes and designs. However, they all have the same function: explode and create a ruffle of glitter to enliven the atmosphere. Glitter bombs are perfect for concerts, parties and other occasions. While fun, glitter bombs are very messy and difficult to clean. If glitter bombs are to be played indoors, ask your parents, boss, or landlord for permission, and never use glitter bombs for malicious purposes.

Method 1 of 4: Making a Glitter Bomb Explosive
Step 1. Gather all the necessary materials
Glitter poppers are similar to confetti poppers commonly used for new year parties, weddings, birthdays or other parties. This explosive was first used at a party in England in the 1840s. The ingredients for making a glitter bomb exploder are as follows:
- A roll of toilet paper or paper towel cut in half.
- Glitter (in various colors)
- Scissors
- stapler
- Thread
- duct tape
- Glue
- Beads
- Ribbon roll
- Cardstock
- tissue paper
Step 2. Make a trap door
The glitter bomb exploded as the string attached to the door under the door was pulled. Cut tissue paper large enough to cover the bottom of the tube (about 7.5 cm). Trace the end of the tube on a cardstock with a marker and cut out a circle. Use glue to connect this circle to the center of the tissue paper. Let dry for a few seconds. Use scissors or a needle to punch a hole in the center of the circle and thread the thread through the hole.
Step 3. Attach the bottom door to the tube
Before gluing the tissue paper and attaching the door under the cardstock to your tube, tie a bead to the end of the thread. Make sure the beads are on the side that will be the inside of the cardboard tube. Attach the door under the glue to glue the end side of the tube with tissue paper. Now, your glitter popper should look like a tube with one end open, with a tail of yarn dangling from one end.
Step 4. Decorate and fill the tube with glitter
Unleash your creations as you decorate the tubes. You can wrap it in colored paper or foil, or roll a ribbon around the tube and glue it together. Before closing the other end, use a funnel or measuring cup to fill to of the tube with glitter.
Step 5. Add the cone-shaped tip
Turn your pop into a rocket by giving it a conical head. Draw a circle with a diameter of 8.3 cm on a cardstock, then cut out the circle. Cut a line from the side of the circle to the midpoint. Pull the two ends of the cut until they overlap for about 1.3 cm, then stabilize. Now, the circle is in the shape of a cone.
Attach the cone by making two small holes just below the open end of the tube. Thread the thread through the holes. Join the two ends of the thread over the open end of the tube and connect them to a bead. These beads will keep the thread centered. Next, thread the thread through the hole on the pointed end of the cone. You can use this thread to hang pops from the ceiling or attach to a garland
Step 6. Remove the glitter
Pull the thread lengthwise down from the door under. The door under the door would tear and glitter would rain down on the party guests.
Step 7. Turn the glitter pop into a glitter firecracker
This modification makes your glitter bomb a party item and not just a hanging decoration. The glitter will be released when both ends of the tube are opened. Wrap the cardboard roll in tissue paper. Use paper towels that are a few inches longer than each end of the cardboard roll. Next, glue cardstock, folding paper or foil on the tube body (on tissue paper). Twist one end of the tissue paper and tie it with a ribbon. Use a funnel to fill the tube with glitter. Finally, twist and tie the tissue paper at the end of the tube that is still open, to close the tube.
Remove the glitter and not the tube by grasping both ends with your hands and pulling it apart. Ask guests to pull as hard as they can so that the glitter explodes and doesn't just fall out
Method 2 of 4: Making a Glitter Bomb Stick
Step 1. Gather all the materials needed
These glitter bombs are easy to make and perfect for a birthday or new year party. The materials needed are:
- Paper straws (in various colors)
- Glitter (in various colors)
- Scissors
- duct tape
- Scrap paper
- Bowl (optional)
- Glue
Step 2. Cut the paper straws in half
Bend the straw in half and cut it in the middle with scissors. These paper straws will be used to hold the glitter. Since it is cut in half, one straw can hold two glitter bombs. However, it's okay not to cut it because the straw will be easier to hold and break.
Step 3. Glue one end of the straw
One end of the straw will be plugged, and the other end will be left open. Use glue to seal the ends of the straws, so the glitter will be easier to fill into the straws. After that, let the glue dry.
Step 4. Fill the straw with glitter
Hold the straw upright with the open end facing up. Use the scrap paper as a funnel to put the glitter into the straw. Once the straw is full, pour the remaining glitter back into the container. Gently pat to remove excess glitter. Seal the open end of the straw with glue and let it dry.
Step 5. Remove your glitter bomb
Pull both ends of the straw until it breaks. A small glitter explosion will appear. Wave the straw to remove any remaining glitter in the straw.
At the party, countdown and ask everyone to detonate their glitter bombs together
Method 3 of 4: Making Peanut Glitter Bombs
Step 1. Gather all the necessary materials
Empty peanut shells make a great impromptu glitter bomb case because they are light, easy to carry and can be collected in one place. Materials needed:
- A bag of peanuts
- Scissors
- Glitter (in various colors)
- Glue
- Acrylic paint (optional)
- Paint brush (optional)
Step 2. Peel off the peanut shell
Use scissors to carefully open the nut shells. Place the nuts lengthwise on the blade of the scissors and gently apply pressure. Once the shells are split open, use your fingers to separate the shells in half and remove the contents. Repeat until you have enough glitter bomb containers. Make sure you don't mix up the shells of the nuts.
Discard any nuts with damaged shells
Step 3. Fill the shells with glitter
Place pairs of peanut shells close together and fill one of them with glitter. Do this until all pairs of one of the skins are filled with glitter.
Step 4. Reattach the nut shells with glue
Glue along the edge of the skin that contains the glitter, then glue the pair. After that, let the glue dry.
Once the two nut shells are glued together, you can paint the outside with acrylic paint. You can also mix paint with glitter, for a glitter effect. That way, your glitter bomb doesn't look boring
Step 5. Open your glitter bomb
Give this bomb to a friend. Ask him to hold each end of the nut and break it quickly. Notice how the glitter is released from the center of the nut shell.
Method 4 of 4: Making Glitter Bomb Balloons
Step 1. Gather the required materials
Sparkling balloons are a great decoration for birthday parties, for both kids and adults. Once finished as decorations, these balloons can be popped to release the glitter inside. The materials needed are:
- Several balloons (in different colors)
- Glitter (in various colors)
- plastic funnel
- Helium tank filled with helium (optional)
Step 2. Fill the balloon with glitter
Insert the narrow end of the funnel into the balloon. Pour as much glitter through the funnel as desired.
The same method can be used to fill balloons with confetti paper. Cut the tissue paper into small circles. Take a few tissue circles, fold them in half, then fold them in half again. Use the funnel to insert the tissues into the balloon
Step 3. Fill the balloon with air
You can blow up the balloon or fill it with helium to let the balloon fly. Tie the neck of the balloon tightly. You can also attach balloons with twine or ribbon for decoration.
Fill the balloon with air at least an hour before the party starts. That way, there's enough time for the static electricity inside the balloon to attract the confetti and glitter to the walls of the balloon
Step 4. Pop the balloons
Pierce the balloon with a pin or needle until it bursts. When it explodes, the glitter will fly in all directions.
If the balloon will be attached to a wreath, do not fill the balloon with helium. You can tape the balloons together or tie them with twine. Fill the walls and ceilings with garlands and glitter bomb balloons. Give guests pins or needles, and ask them to pop the balloons in the room. All your guests will be showered with glitter and your party will instantly be a blast
Tips
- Items with voids can be filled with glitter. For example, plastic eggs or old ping pong balls.
- Always use old newsprint as a base when working with glitter. This way, spilled glitter can be collected again. Simply fold the old newspaper base and pour it back into the container.
- Piñata will be more festive and sparkling if filled with candy and glitter.
- Get ready to clean up all the glitter after making and exploding the glitter bomb.
- Toy wax can be used to remove glitter. Simply roll the toy wax onto the glittery surface.
- Use a wide piece of tape to remove glitter from carpet or furniture.
- Use a flint roller to remove glitter from clothes, especially before putting them in the washing machine.
- Use your creativity when decorating glitter bombs. You can dab or spray glue on the surface of the bomb and then sprinkle it with glitter. Make your bombs look as awesome as possible!
Warning
- If the party is being held at someone's house or apartment, ask the owner's permission before detonating the glitter bomb. Don't forget to clean everything until it's clean. If there's party damage, fix it.
- Make sure the glitter used does not contain toxic substances if ingested.
- Never use glitter bombs for malicious intent.
