American Bullies are part of the Pitbull breed. Although puppies start out as tiny and fragile creatures, they will eventually grow up to be strong and muscular dogs. For puppies to grow up to be healthy adult dogs, they need a high-quality diet. In fact, several brands of dog food are designed to meet the nutritional needs of American Bullies. Choose high-quality dog food, and supplement the diet with raw meat and protein and vitamin supplements.

Part 1 of 2: Choosing Premium Dog Food
Step 1. Talk to your veterinarian about the best type of food for a Bully puppy
Due to their breed type and physical appearance, Bullies are unique breeds of dogs and have special dietary needs. At some point after you adopt a bully, ask your vet about the best type of food to give your dog.
Also, check with your veterinarian before giving any dietary supplements. He will be able to determine which supplements are beneficial for puppies and which are not
Step 2. Choose foods that contain at least 30% protein content
American Bully puppies need to start building muscle in the first few months of life. This dog breed consumes enough protein to build muscle. As a rule of thumb, make sure your dog's food is high in protein, by seeing if the first three ingredients are meat.
- Visit a pet store and read the labels on various dog foods. The packaging must clearly state the amount of protein in the dog food.
- Premium dog food can also be purchased at major grocery stores or supermarkets.
Step 3. Choose foods that contain at least 20% fat
Like all puppies, young bullies need fat in their diet. A high fat diet will keep the dog healthy and grow and shape his body normally. Plus, the high fat content in the diet allows puppies to break down protein and nutrients easily.
Giving puppies a diet containing less than 30% protein and less than 20% fat can cause health problems during their growth
Step 4. Consider adding a protein supplement to your dog's diet

Step 1. Feed the Bully puppy 2-3 times per day
From 12 weeks to 6 months, puppies should eat three times a day. This way, he will eat small meals often enough so that his nutritional intake is sufficient, but not to the point of making him greedy. After the age of 6 months, feed 2 times a day.

Step 3. Reduce your dog's access to food if he starts to gain weight
Unlike the leaner dog breeds, American Bullies tend to gain weight if their diet is not monitored. If you can't feed your dog 3 times (for example, because you're too busy), you can leave food available for your dog throughout the day. However, if you notice your dog is looking fatter instead of muscular, hold back on his access to food.
- For example, you could feed your dog a lot of food at 7 a.m., and again at 7 p.m.
- Dog metabolism changes after entering the age of 1 year. At this point, you may notice that the puppy is actually building up fat instead of muscle.

- American Bully dogs should be given a healthy and high-quality diet, especially compared to other dog breeds. Otherwise, the dog's physical development can be hampered or experience health problems as an adult.
- Although some Bully owners add raw meat to their dog's diet, this is not recommended by most veterinarians. Raw food is prone to risk of infection and can disrupt the dog's nutritional balance resulting in a deficiency.
- Never give a Bully puppy (or adult) steroids to increase their muscle mass. This can pose a serious health risk to the dog.
