Latias is a legendary Pokémon that can be obtained after you complete the main storyline. Latias is a great Pokémon to catch using a Master Ball. Latias can be difficult to chase and catch, but there are some Pokémon and objects that can make things easier for you.
Step
Part 1 of 2: Finding Latias
Step 1. Defeat the Elite Four
You won't be able to find Latias until you defeat the Elite Four and become a Champion.
Step 2. Watch the credits section to the end, then head downstairs to your house
When you're done watching the credits, you'll be taken back to your room. Go downstairs and watch television. You'll get a message about seeing a flying red Pokémon. The Pokémon in question here is Latias.
Step 3. Gather the supplies you need
It will take you a long time to find Latias, so it is highly recommended that you provide lots of Max Repels. Max Repel serves to prevent other Pokémon that are lower level than your team leader Pokémon from attacking you.
If you already use Master Ball, you will need to provide lots of Ultra Balls
Step 4. Choose the right Pokémon to lead your team
Latias is a very fast Pokémon, and Latias will run away at the first chance he has. You'll need a Pokémon that is fast enough to move ahead of Latias and also has a skill that can trap Latias. This is not important if you have a Master Ball.
- Wobbuffet level 35-39 is a group leader Pokémon that is popular for its Shadow Tag skill. This skill will prevent Latias from escaping, and you can replace Wobbuffet with another Pokémon to fight Latias.
- Another popular Pokémon is Golbat level 39 with the skill Mean Look. Golbat could usually move first, and the Mean Look skill would prevent Latias from escaping.
- Give Quick Claw to your team leader Pokémon. This item will increase the chances for your Pokémon to attack first.
Step 5. Bring some Pokémon that can reduce Latias' blood
One of the most popular skills for reducing a Pokémon's blood without killing it is False Swipe. This skill will injure the opposing Pokémon, but will not lower its blood pressure than 1. This will make it easier for the opposing Pokémon to be caught.
If you use the Master Ball, you don't have to bother thinking about how to lower Latias' blood
Part 2 of 2: Catching Latias
Step 1. Exchange Latias from friends for your convenience (optional)
If your friend has Latias, exchange Latias from them, then return them. By adding Latias to the Pokedex, you can monitor him on the map, so that Latias can be found more easily.
Step 2. Find a location where you can get into the grass and quickly switch locations
Latias appears at random places within the Hoenn area, and Latias' location will change each time you enter another building or area. You can speed up the search process by finding places that can be used to fight and changing locations quickly. A popular choice is the grass outside the Safari Zone.
Step 3. Use Max Repel
If your team leader Pokémon is level 39, Max Repel will prevent all Pokémon level 39 and below from attacking you. Since Latias is at level 40, your chances of encountering Latias will increase (if Latias is in the area).
Step 4. Start walking on the grass until the fight begins
If the Pokémon you are dealing with is not Latias, defeat the Pokémon or leave the battle. Repeat this process until you face 10-20 Pokémon. If you still haven't found Latias after many battles, chances are that Latias isn't in the area.
Step 5. Go inside the building, then exit to let Latias change locations
Latias will move to another area within Hoenn randomly. Head into the grass to find Latias again.
Step 6. Repeat this process until you find Latias
You don't need to move to another region because you only need to keep Latias moving until Latias is in your area. One day you will surely find it.
Step 7. Throw the Master Ball directly when the fight starts (if you have one)
The Master Ball saves you the hassle of meeting Latias, and you can catch him right away. If you don't have a Master Ball, you need to reduce Latias' blood first before catching it.
Step 8. Use Mean Look to prevent Latias from escaping
This way, you can switch to a Pokémon that can deal a lot of damage to start reducing Latias' blood.
Step 9. Start throwing Ultra Balls when Latias is almost dead
You can increase your chances of catching Latias if you give her Sleep or Paralyze status. Usually you need to throw a few Ultra Balls to successfully catch them.
Step 10. Monitor the whereabouts of the runaway Latias
There is a high chance that Latias will run away the first time you encounter him. Luckily, you have some convenience in finding it again. First, Latias' location will be shown on the map when you've encountered him once. Second, Latias's blood won't be full again after a fight is over, so if you've dealt enough damage to him in the first fight, you don't have to bother doing it again the second time around.
Step 11. Move to where Latias is
Walk through the grass while using Max Repel until you encounter it. Repeat this process until you catch Latias.
