This wikiHow teaches you how to find and travel to villages in the Minecraft game. This can be done with a console command, which is only available on the PC and PE editions of Minecraft. The selected world must have cheats enabled before you can find the village. In the console edition of Minecraft, you can use the village locator to find villages in the world, then visit them using the map. If you don't like using cheats, you can use some tips to get to a village.
Step
Method 1 of 4: On Desktop Computer

Step 1. Run Minecraft
Select the Minecraft icon in the shape of a block of earth, then click PLAY which is at the bottom of the Minecraft launcher.

Step 2. Select Singleplayer in the middle of the Minecraft window
A list of your singleplayer worlds will be displayed.

Step 3. Select a world with activated cheats
Double-click the desired world to load it. You must activate the cheat in the selected world if you want to find a village in Minecraft.
If you don't have a cheat-enabled world yet, click Create New World, type the name of the world, click More World Options…, choose Allow Cheats: OFF, then select Create New World.

Step 4. Open the console
You can do this by pressing the / button. This will open a console text box at the bottom of the window.

Step 5. Enter the command " locate"
Type locate Village, then press Enter.
The uppercase "V" in the word "Village" is very important because if you use a lowercase "v" the command cannot be executed

Step 6. Review the results
A white text message will appear with the words "Located Village at [x coordinate] (y?) [z coordinate] " at the bottom of the Minecraft window.
- For example, you might see " Locate Village at 123 (y) 456 " here.
- Usually the y-coordinate (height) is unknown. This means you have to guess by trial and error method (trial and error).

Step 7. Type the command " teleport"
Open the console again, then type teleport [player] [x-coordinate] [y-coordinate] [z-coordinate]. Replace the text in parentheses with the username and village coordinates. To fill in the y-coordinate, you have to guess it.
- Based on the example above, if the player's name is "Budi", you would type teleport Budi 123 [guess the y coordinate] 456. The name is case-sensitive.
- Try using a number between 70 and 80 to fill in the y-coordinate.

Step 8. Press Enter key
Your teleportation command will be executed. As long as the y-coordinate you enter is not so high that you die from a fall, or you don't enter the wall, your character will land under, or above the village.
- If you land underground, dig up to reach the village.
- If you are spawned into a wall in Survival mode, you will suffocate quickly. This can be prevented by digging into the walls and getting out of there.
Method 2 of 4: On Mobile Devices

Step 1. Run Minecraft
Tap the Minecraft icon, which is a block of dirt with grass on it.

Step 2. Tap Play at the top of the Minecraft main page

Step 3. Select a world
Tap the world you want to load. Unlike Minecraft on a computer, you can activate cheats while the game is in progress so you can choose any world.

Step 4. Tap on the “Pause” icon
This button is in the form of two vertical lines located at the top of the screen. The Pause menu will open.
If you have activated cheats in the selected world, skip to the "Tap the 'Chat' icon" step

Step 5. Tap on Settings found in the Pause menu

Step 6. Scroll down to the " World Options " section
It's at the bottom of the menu on the right side of the screen.

Step 7. Tap on the dark gray “Activate Cheats” button
The color of the button will change to light gray, indicating that you have now activated the cheat.

Step 8. Tap Continue when prompted
The menu screen will be displayed again.

Step 9. Continue the game
Tap x in the upper right corner, then tap Game Resume at the top of the Pause menu.

Step 10. Tap on the “Chat” icon
The icon is a conversation bubble at the top of the screen. A text field will be displayed at the bottom.

Step 11. Type the command " locate"
Tap the text field, type /locate village, then tap → which is at the top right of the text field.

Step 12. Review the results
A text message will appear with the words " The nearest Village is at block [x-coordinate], (y?), [z-coordinate] " at the bottom of the screen.
For example, maybe the text would be " The nearest Village is at block -65, (y?), 342 " here

Step 13. Type the command " teleport"
Open the "Chat" box again, then type /tp [name] [x-coordinate] [y-coordinate] [z-coordinate]. Replace the text in parentheses with the username and village coordinates. You have to guess the number for the y coordinate.
- Based on the example above, if the player's name is "rudi", write /tp rudi -65 [guess the y coordinate] 342. Names are case sensitive.
- Usually you have to guess the y-coordinate, which indicates the village's elevation.

Step 14. Tap → located on the right side of the text box
Your character will be moved to the specified coordinates. As long as the y-coordinate isn't so high that it kills you if you fall, or you're not moved inside a wall, you'll land in, below, or above the village.
- If you land underground, dig up to reach the village.
- If you are spawned into a wall in Survival mode, you will suffocate quickly. To prevent this, try to dig into the wall and get out of there.
Method 3 of 4: On the Console

Step 1. Understand how this method works
In the console edition of Minecraft, you can't use commands to search for a village and then teleport to it. You must search for the seed code for a world, then enter it into an internet village finder to find the location of a village. Once this has been done, you can go to the village manually using the map.

Step 2. Launch Minecraft by selecting its icon
If you purchased Minecraft on disc, insert the disc first before you do so.

Step 3. Select Play Game at the top of the Minecraft main menu

Step 4. Select a world
Press the button X or A with the world that has been selected to open its page.

Step 5. Record the world seeds
At the top of the menu is a " Seed: " section followed by a long string of numbers. In order to find a village in the world, a series of numbers must be entered into a website on a computer.

Step 6. Open ChunkBase (village locator service) on your computer
Visit https://chunkbase.com/apps/village-finder in your computer's web browser.

Step 7. Enter the world seed number
In the " Seed " text field in the middle of the page, type the number that appears at the top of the Minecraft world menu.

Step 8. Click the Find Villages button
It's a blue button on the right side of the page. The village finder will display yellow dots around the map grid. These dots indicate the location of the village.

Step 9. Scroll down and select your console
Click the box PC (1.10 and up) on the lower right side, then click X360/PS3 or XOne/PS4 in the pop-up menu. The map will show villages specifically made for the console.

Step 10. Zoom out if necessary
If the yellow dots in the map box are not visible, click and drag the slider at the bottom to the left.

Step 11. Locate the village
Select one of the yellow dots on the map, then check the coordinates shown in the lower left corner of the map. Take note of these coordinates so you know where to look when you travel to the village later.

Step 12. Make a map and take it with you
In the console edition of Minecraft, the coordinates of your current location can be seen if you carry the map with you.

Step 13. Go to the village
Walk towards the village with the map. If the x and z coordinates intersect, it means you are near the village.
- ChunkBase Village Finder is not 100 percent accurate. So maybe you could be near a village (but not in it). If you can't find the village right away, do a search around the area.
- Don't mind the y coordinates for now. You'll know whether to climb or descend an area once you reach the intersection of the village's x and z coordinates.
Method 4 of 4: Finding Villages Manually

Step 1. Understand that it can take you a long time to find a village
Even in a small world, finding one village among tens of thousands of blocks was an extremely difficult job.

Step 2. Know where to look
Villages are spawned in Desert (desert), Savanna (savanna), Taiga (including cold taiga areas), and Plain / plains (including ice plains). If you're in the Jungle (forest), Mushroom (mushrooms), Tundra (polar ice caps), or any other biome where there is no village, don't waste time looking there.

Step 3. Know what to look for
Usually villages are made of planks of wood and cobblestone, and tend to stand out more than the surrounding area.

Step 4. Prepare for a long journey
The journey to find the village takes hours. So, bring basic equipment, food, bedding and weapons before leaving. It is recommended that you leave during the day and set up camp at night. Dig a shelter and cover it tightly so you don't get attacked by mobs (monsters in Minecraft).
You must leave at least one block open so you don't suffocate

Step 5. Tame animals to ride
If you have a saddle, use it to get a ride animal so you can travel quickly. Find a horse and interact with it several times without using anything until the animal is tame and doesn't throw you. Next, approach the tame horse and select the horse while holding the saddle. this makes it easier for you to control the horse while riding it.

Step 6. Find a place to make observations
Head to the highest hill so you can find the biome used to spawn the village. This allows you to observe the surrounding area so that you can identify man-made buildings more easily.

Step 7. Look for the torch at night
Fire will be easier to see at night than during the day. Although the fire seen at night may be lava, there is still a possibility that the fire came from the torches in the village.
Do this very carefully if you are playing in Survival mode on a difficulty level above "peaceful". It's best not to approach the torch until the sun is shining (noon) just in case a mob is present

Step 8. Continue browsing
Villages are randomly placed, and there's no surefire way to find them in the game without using third-party tools. The best chance of finding a village is to spend a lot of time going through every biome you come across and qualify for a village to appear.
