This wikiHow teaches you how to change the iPhone's font by making it bigger and/or bold. Unfortunately, you can't change the iPhone system font using settings or apps. If you want to change the font used throughout your iPhone to a completely different one, you'll need to jailbreak the device.
Step
Method 1 of 3: Enlarge and Bold Text
Step 1. Understand how this method works
According to the default settings on iPhone, you can reduce or increase the size of the text, and bold the text (or remove the bold). This is the only possible way to change the font on iPhone.
Step 2. Open Settings
on iPhone.
Tap the Settings icon, which is a gear in the gray box.
Step 3. Scroll down and tap Display & Brightness
It's at the top of the Settings page. The display settings on your device will appear, including the text size.
Step 4. Tap on Text Size in the center of the screen
A new page with a slider will be displayed.
Step 5. Adjust the text size by moving the slider
You can swipe right or left to enlarge or reduce the text from the default size. As a preview, the text displayed on the screen will change its size. This change applies to almost all Apple apps and other popular apps.
If the app does not support Dynamic Type, the font size will not change
Step 6. Tap on the “Back” button located at the top left corner
The changes you make will be saved. The text size you choose will be directly applied to the Settings app.
Step 7. Enable bold text if desired
Tap the "Bold Text" button
the white one and tap Continue when requested. iPhone will restart and all text on the device will appear in bold.
When the text on the iPhone is already in bold, the button will turn green. You can remove the bold effect on iPhone by tapping this button
Method 2 of 3: Changing Accessibility Settings
Step 1. Open Settings
on iPhone.
Tap the Settings icon, which is a gear in the gray box.
Step 2. Scroll down and tap General
It's at the top of the Settings page.
Step 3. Tap Accessibility located at the bottom of the screen
Step 4. Tap on Larger Text at the bottom of the page
This will open a screen similar to the Text Size menu in the previous method.
Step 5. Tap on “Larger Accessibility Sizes” button
which is still white.
The button will turn green
and the slider below will open to reveal more text size options.
Step 6. Enlarge text on iPhone device
Slide the slider to the right to increase the text size to the maximum. This only applies to apps that have Dynamic Type enabled and allow a larger Accessibility size.
Method 3 of 3: Changing the Font on a Jailbroken iPhone
Step 1. Jailbreak the iPhone
You can't change the font used on your iPhone if you don't jailbreak the device.
Multiple iOS versions can't be jailbroken. You will not be able to change the font if your iPhone is not jailbroken.
Step 2. Run Cydia on your jailbroken iPhone
Cydia is on one of the Home screens. Cydia is basically an App Store for jailbroken iPhones.
If it's your first time running Cydia after jailbreaking your iPhone, the app will usually update and restart your iPhone automatically
Step 3. Search for "BytaFont" in Cydia
This application is used for jailbroken iPhones and is available for free from the ModMyi repository, which is a standard part of Cydia.
Step 4. Install BytaFont
Go to the BytaFont details page, tap Install, then tap Confirm to install it. When the pairing is complete, iPhone will restart automatically.
Step 5. Run BytaFont
You can use this app to download and install new fonts on your iPhone. This app is on one of the Home screens once you've installed it in Cydia.
Step 6. Add fonts to BytaFont
Once BytaFont is running, you can add fonts to it. How to do it:
- Tap tab BytaFont.
- Tap Browse Fonts
- Look for the desired font and tap Download
- Use Cydia to complete the font installation.
Step 7. Change the font used on the iPhone device
After installing some fonts, you can change the font used on the iPhone system:
- Run BytaFont, then select tab Swap Mode.
- Tap option Basic.
- Tap the desired font.
- Confirm by tapping Yes. iPhone will restart and the font will be installed.
Tips
- Some iPhone keyboard apps, such as Better Fonts, can be used to type a variety of fonts when you send messages.
- If you want to change the font while typing in a text app like Notes or Pages, you can tap and hold the text, tap Select All when prompted, then tap B, I, or U to bold, italicize, or underline text.
