You can make unicorn horns to complement your costume, party decorations, or just for fun! These custards are easy to make and sure to be fun working on with the kids. You can definitely make a great unicorn horn, whether it's a paper horn, a horn hat for a party, or a foam horn headband.
Step
Method 1 of 3: Making Paper Horns
Step 1. Prepare thick paper
To make a unicorn horn, you will need a fairly thick sheet of paper. Cardstock or scrapbook paper is the most appropriate choice.
Use decorative paper to make your horns stand out
Step 2. Cut the cone pattern on the paper
Draw a large triangle with a rounded base on the paper. Cut the triangle then cut the top corner of the triangle so that the ends are no longer sharp.
Step 3. Roll the paper to form a cone
Roll from one side to form a cone. Glue the edges tightly. Then, tape the inner edge of the cone to secure it.
The bottom of the cone is shaped as big as the mouth of a milk bottle. As a result, your cone shape now looks like a horn
Step 4. Attach an elastic band or band
Use hot glue to attach a ribbon or elastic to the base of the horn. Glue one end of the ribbon into the side of the horn. Repeat this step for the other side.
Step 5. Decorate the unicorn horn
For a finishing touch, decorate the unicorn horn as uniquely as possible. Be creative and express yourself through the horns! There are many things you can use to decorate your horns.
- Paint
- Tape
- glitter
- Decal
- Markers or crayons
Method 2 of 3: Turning Party Hats Into Horns
Step 1. Prepare the party hat
To make a unicorn horn, you will need a hat made of cardboard that is not too thick. You can get this at a grocery store or party supply store.
Step 2. Disassemble the paper hat
Find the place where the cap is attached and open it for you to flatten. If the paper hat is glued on with tape, remove the tape or cut it carefully. If the hat is glued together, use scissors to carefully separate it. Then, spread the party hat.
The elastic band must stay attached to the hat
Step 3. Roll up the hat tightly
In making this horn, you will have to unroll the hat, but roll it back tighter than before. Roll it from side to side tightly. Keep rolling until you form a strong, nice cone.
Step 4. Glue the hat with tape
Keep the horn shape by using tape. Use hot glue or tape on the edges of the party hat to keep it in place.
Step 5. Put on your unicorn horn
To put it on, place the horns on your forehead and pull the elastic up to the back of your head.
Method 3 of 3: Making a Horn Headband out of Foam
Step 1. Prepare a sheet of foam measuring approximately 22.5 cm x 30 cm
Making a unicorn headband requires a large piece of foam. This foam can be purchased at your local craft supply store or online.
In this project, the use of self-adhesive foam sheets was a very good choice
Step 2. Draw a diagonal line on the foam sheet
On the back of the foam, use a ruler to draw a diagonal line from the bottom left corner to the top right corner. Leave 2 cm from the top of the top right corner.
Step 3. Cut along the lines
Cut following the diagonal line. As a result, you will get a triangular shape with one end flat.
Step 4. Roll the foam into a horn
Scroll from the bottom left corner to the top right corner. Keep rolling until the horns are perfect.
Step 5. Apply glue to the foam
Glue the corners of the horns with hot glue to prevent the horns from deforming. You can also apply glue on the inside of the foam to secure the underside of the horn.
Step 6. Trim the bottom of the horns
Use scissors to trim the underside of the horns so they are the same size and can stand upright on the table.
Step 7. Cut the bottom edge of the horn
Make tassels on the lower edge of the horn, each 1 cm long and 1.5 cm wide.
Step 8. Make a circle from the remaining foam
From the remaining foam, cut out a circle shape. Make sure the diameter is 1.5 cm larger than the base of the horn.
Step 9. Glue the foam on the headband
Take a plastic headband. With hot glue, stick a circle of foam in the center of the headband. Then, place the horn just above the foam circle. Apply glue to each strand of tassel and attach it to the foam circle.
Step 10. Add embellishments
To make your unicorn horn look unique, add decorations. Play with your imagination and create stylish horns.
- Add beads to the horns and headbands.
- Attach the ribbon to the end of the horn and let it unravel.
- Glitter glue can also enhance the appearance of the horns.
Step 11.
Tips
- Measure your head before cutting the ribbon or elastic for the horns.
- Determine the size of the horn before starting to make it. You can make a larger cone from a wider sheet of paper or foam.
- Fill the horns with paper or cotton to keep their shape.
- Avoid using elastic bands that are too short so they don't break easily.
