Some people hang their jeans on hangers, but this can take up a lot of closet space. Instead, you can try to fold up a pair of jeans, or any trousers. Take a few minutes to learn how to neatly arrange the jeans below.
Step
Method 1 of 2: Folding Jeans
Step 1. Trim the pocket
Put your hands in each pocket, especially the largest, and push it as far inward as possible. Pockets that are clustered or removed will make the folds uneven and thick.
Step 2. Hold the jeans upright, then shake them once or twice
Grab the jeans by holding the ends of the waist so that the seam of each leg runs along the outside. Shake the jeans once or twice vigorously and quickly to remove any visible wrinkles.
Step 3. Fold one leg over the other
Align the leg so that the seam stays on the outside, otherwise the crease may crease. You can make the back pocket or front pocket touch each other; whichever method is used.
Step 4. Tuck the crotch under the leg (optional)
This will make the crease a little thicker, but can make it look neater and reduce the creases in the groin. Trim the crotch sticking out of the leg, then tuck it between the legs.
Step 5. Fold the underwear in two or three folds, depending on the available space
If you have plenty of room in your closet, fold the toes up to your waist, then trim your pants. If you want a smaller crease, fold the seam up to the leg, trim, then fold the waistband to the edge of the pant crease above the previous crease.
Method 2 of 2: Storing Folded Jeans
Step 1. Stack with alternate waist positions to save space
The waist of the jeans usually has a different amount of material than the hem, so the pile of jeans is slanted and uneven. Prevent this by positioning the waist to alternate between the left and right sides of the stack.
Step 2. Arrange the genies inline for easy selection later
Use boxes or baskets to stack folded jeans in a horizontal row. This makes it easier for you to pull out the pants you want without moving the rest of the pile. Keep the edges of the folds on top to keep the stack neat.
Step 3. Use the sorting system
If you have a lot of jeans, sort them into separate piles for easy selection. You can arrange them by cut style (e.g. bell bottoms, tight jeans, and baggy jeans) to create a neat pile. You can also sort by other criteria, such as color, pattern, or frequency of use.
