Thick and bushy eyebrows never go out of style. However, sometimes you want eyebrows that look well-groomed and neatly arranged to emphasize the look of your eyes or just look neat. For example, say you want to shape your eyebrows before taking a yearbook photo or attending a party. Fortunately, thick eyebrows are easy to style yourself at home. With some inexpensive equipment, you can get your thick eyebrows done yourself without having to spend a lot of money at the salon.

Method 1 of 4: Shaping the Eyebrows with Tweezers
Step 1. Purchase eyebrow tweezers
The best eyebrow tweezers have beveled edges. This slanted edge will help you pinch and pluck the thinnest hair along the brow edge. You should also choose eyebrow tweezers that can be held tightly.
- Consider choosing eyebrow tweezers with a brush on the tip. This brush allows you to smooth your brows and see their shape while trimming them with tweezers.
- There are a lot of bacteria around the eye area. So you have to buy a special tool for your own use. Borrowing someone else's tweezers will increase your risk of getting an infection.

- The advantage of wax sheets is that you can shape and cut them according to the size and shape of your eyebrows.

Step 2. Trim the eyebrows with an eyebrow brush
Brush the eyebrow hair up and follow its natural shape. That way, you can see hairs that are longer than the natural line of your eyebrows. These hairs must be trimmed with wax first.
Step 3. Draw your desired eyebrow shape on the wax sheet
While looking in the mirror, stick the wax sheet on the eyebrows. Use a pen to outline the brow area you want to trim on the wax sheet. For example, to smooth the hair under the eyebrows, draw a line in that area.

Step 4. Cut the wax sheet with scissors
Cut the wax sheet into smaller pieces following the guide lines you created earlier. Cut it so that the sheet is wide enough to cover the bottom and top of the eyebrows. The size of the wax sheet should also be wide enough so that it can be attached and removed easily.
- Remember, the wax sheet will be placed on the bottom and top edges of the eyebrows. The extra wax on this sheet should stick to the eyelids and forehead, but not to the eyebrows.

Step 5. Glue the wax sheet with your fingers
Spread the wax sheet over the hairs you want to remove. After that, quickly remove the wax sheet against the direction of hair growth. Do not pull slowly because it will be painful and the wax will not be able to pull out the hair optimally.
Your skin may be a little red afterward. However, there is no need to worry. Apply ice or a cold tea bag for a few minutes to reduce the swelling or redness
Step 6. Relieve skin irritation after using wax
You can use a hydrocortisone cream to relieve skin irritation or inflammation, or apply an aloe vera-based lotion. If there is still wax residue around the eyebrows, you can clean it with baby oil or Vaseline.

Method 3 of 4: Trimming Thick Eyebrows with Scissors
Step 1. Use scissors to trim the irregular eyebrows
There are times when eyebrow hairs stick out or grow out of the line of the pattern you want. Fortunately, scissors can be very useful to solve this problem easily. You only need to trim the irregular hair to smooth out the shape of the eyebrows.
Don't try to shape your eyebrows with just scissors. If you want to change the shape of your eyebrows, you'll need to pluck them out with tweezers or wax
Step 2. Use an eyebrow brush (spoolie) to smooth the eyebrows
You can also use a fine-toothed comb if you don't have a special eyebrow brush. Trimming your eyebrows first will help you spot any hairs that are too long and need trimming. Do not comb or brush your eyebrows in unnatural directions.

Step 4. Press the eyebrow hair with your finger or spoolie then trim
Use scissors to trim the ends of the eyebrow hairs to the length you want. Observe the development of the shape of the eyebrows in the mirror. Trim any remaining irregular hair.
Don't try to trim eyebrows that aren't pressed with your fingers or with a spoolie, as you may end up making them too short
Step 5. Brush the arch of the eyebrows following the direction of their growth
Use the spoolie to smooth out the brows so you can see the longer hairs than the rest. The eyebrow arch usually has the longest hair, but don't cut it short as this is the most prominent part of the eyebrow.
The arch of the eyebrows is the part that attracts the most attention. So you have to prune it very carefully
Step 6. Trim the hair on the arch of the eyebrow
Start from the middle of the eyebrow arch outwards towards the ear. Press the eyebrow hair with a spoolie or fingers then trim. After two trims, brush the eyebrows again until they are even. Check the shape of the eyebrows in the mirror to see if they are curved. Continue trimming the arch of your eyebrows carefully until they are the shape you want.
Step 7. Smooth the tail of the eyebrow with a brush
Remember to brush your eyebrows in the direction of hair growth. Trim the eyebrow hair that looks too long.
- The tail of the eyebrow is in line with the outer corner of the eye.
- After trimming the initial tip and arch of the eyebrows, you may feel that the tail of the eyebrow does not need to be trimmed too much. Just trim the eyebrow hair from this section if necessary.
Step 8. Brush the eyebrows down to trim the bottom edge
You should trim unwanted hairs from the lower edge of the eyebrows carefully. Do not trim too much eyebrow hair.
Method 4 of 4: Controlling Thick Brows
Step 1. Apply waterproof eyebrow gel with a flat makeup brush
First of all, brush the eyebrows until the bristles are even. After that, rub a small amount of gel onto the back of your hand. Tap the flat brush against the surface of the gel and then draw a line under the eyebrows to define the shape. Finally, blend the gel into the eyebrows so they look natural.
- Some brands of eyebrow gel come with a brush so you don't need to prepare a flat brush again.

Step 3. Use clear mascara to smooth out the eyebrow hairs
Mascara can also be used like a gel to maintain the shape of the eyebrows. Take out the mascara brush and then sweep it over the eyebrows from one end (near the eyes) to the other by moving it upwards.
Pushing the hairs up with a mascara brush will usually keep them looking neat, especially if they haven't been plucked or trimmed
Tips
- For quick and easy eyebrow grooming, use eyebrow gel. This gel is formulated to maintain the shape of thick eyebrows after combing and shaping. If you don't have eyebrow gel, simply spritz some hairspray onto an old toothbrush and then rub it over your brows.
- You can also shape your eyebrows with dark makeup. Get an eyebrow brush and carefully apply dark makeup. You can use a professional eyebrow brush or an eyebrow makeup brush. Pat the brush against the makeup then run it over the eyebrows to fill in the gaps between the bristles. Fill in all the gaps in the eyebrows so the result looks full and natural.
Warning
- Do not place the wax sheet directly on the eyebrows. This wax should only be used to shape the edges of the eyebrows. If you are wrong, and stick it directly on the eyebrows, all the eyebrow hairs will be pulled out while the eyebrows take a long time to grow back.
- Try not to shave your eyebrows. Shaving your eyebrows can cause the hair to grow under the skin and grow short, but stiff. Most likely, the eyebrows will also become too thin after shaving.
