Step 3. Sign in to Google Chrome

If you're not signed in with your school ID, click the name (or the person icon) in the upper-right corner of the Chrome interface, then sign in. Use the username/email address associated with your school account (example: "[email protected]"). When finished, click Sign in to Chrome (Sign in to Chrome).

You can do this by entering the URL into the bar at the top of Chrome and pressing Enter (Windows) or Return (Mac).

  • Students will be directed to the class page with the option to join a new class by clicking the "+" icon at the top of the screen.

You can get this code from the teacher when the class is created. After joining, you will see the main page of the class.

Step 6. Review the class page

If your teacher has information you need to work on, the list will be there.

  • You can see upcoming assignments in the box along the left side of the page.
  • By default, the page will open on a tab Forum (Stream) which is a compilation of posts from your other teachers and classmates.
  • Click tab Classwork (Classwork) at the top of the page to view task details.
  • Tab Member (People) to the right of the tab Classwork will show you a list of your classmates. This feature is useful if you need to contact other classmates for a group assignment.
  • Click the three horizontal lines in the upper left corner to open the Class menu.

This is the class you want to add students to. The class list is the first page that appears when you log into Google Classroom.

Step 5. Click the Invite Students symbol/Invite Students.

The logo is an image of a person with a plus sign (+) next to “Students” (“Students”).

Step 6. Enter the student's email address

As you type, a list of matching results will appear (if there are any).

Step 8. Click Invite/Invite to send an invitation.

Each student you invite will receive a code for that class by email. Your class list will now update to show the addresses of students who have been invited.

Tips

Familiarize yourself with the Google Classroom layout before school officially starts. If you're a teacher, this means you'll need to send invitations to Google Classroom students before the new school year starts
