Are you looking to buy a laptop bag? There's nothing more annoying than realizing that the bag you bought doesn't fit your laptop. By measuring your laptop beforehand, you can avoid such unpleasant events.
Step
Part 1 of 4: Measuring Laptop Screen
Step 1. Set up a standard meter
Screens are usually measured in inches, although some countries use the metric system instead of the imperial system to express a size. If you prefer to use the metric system, you can convert the inches you get.
Step 2. Determine the starting point of the measurement
The screen is measured diagonally, so your starting point is from the lower left corner of the screen or the lower right corner of the screen. You only measure part of the screen, you don't need to measure the area around the screen. Therefore, start measuring from the corner of the screen that can light up.
Step 3. Extend your meter to the corner opposite your starting point
Remember that you are measuring only the illuminated part of the screen, not the surrounding area of the screen.
The screen is measured diagonally to make the size sound more impressive
Step 4. Convert the size you got to 1/10 inch
Most sellers advertise screen sizes in 1/10 inch (15, 3”, 17, 1”, etc.), but most meters use 1/16 inch. If you want to know the sizes sellers use for your screen, you can use the table above as a reference.
Step 5. Convert inches to centimeters (if needed)
If you want to know your screen size in centimeters but you only have a measuring device with inches, you can multiply the inches you got by 2.54 to get the screen size in centimeters.
For example, a 13.3-inch screen equals a 33.8-centimeter (13.3 x 2.54 = 33,782) screen
Part 2 of 4: Measuring Laptop Height
Step 1. Close your laptop screen
Laptop height is measured with the screen closed.
Step 2. Start measuring from the bottom
If the edge of your laptop is thinner than the rest, measure it at the thickest part.
Step 3. Measure the height of the laptop to the closed part of the screen
Laptop height is usually no more than 2 inches.
Step 4. Convert inches to centimeters (if needed)
If you want to know the height of your laptop in centimeters but you only have a measuring device with inches, you can multiply the inches you got by 2.54 to get the laptop's height in centimeters.
For example, the height of a 1.5-inch laptop is the same as the height of a 3.8-centimeter laptop (1.5 x 2.54 = 3.81)
Part 3 of 4: Measuring Laptop Length
Step 1. Start measuring on the front of the laptop from the right end to the left end or vice versa
Measuring at the front of the laptop is easier because the area is flat without any sticking out.
Step 2. Measure horizontally from one end to the other
Make sure you measure it down to the rounded end.
Step 3. Convert inches to centimeters (if needed)
If you want to know the length of your laptop in centimeters but you only have a measuring device with inches, you can multiply the inches you got by 2.54 to get the length of the laptop in centimeters.
For example, the length of a 14-inch laptop is the same as a laptop of 35.6 centimeters (14 x 2.54 = 35.56)
Part 4 of 4: Measuring Laptop Width
Step 1. Start measuring from the top to the bottom on the front of the laptop
Step 2. Measure horizontally from top to bottom
Make sure you measure up to the rounded edges.
Step 3. Convert inches to centimeters (if needed)
If you want to know the width of your laptop in centimeters but you only have a measuring unit in inches, you can multiply the inches you got by 2.54 to get the width of the laptop in centimeters.
