Method 1 of 3: 7th Generation Nano
Step 1. Press and hold the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons at the same time
Step 2. Wait for the Apple logo to appear
The device screen will turn black and display the Apple logo. This process takes 6 to 8 seconds.
Step 3. Release the button you pressed
The iPod Nano will boot normally.
Method 2 of 3: 6th Generation Nano
Step 1. Press and hold the Sleep/Wake and Volume Down buttons at the same time
Step 2. Wait for the Apple logo to appear
The device screen will turn black and display the Apple logo. This process takes at least 8 seconds.
Step 3. Release the button you pressed
The iPod Nano will boot normally.
Method 3 of 3: 5th Generation Nano and Older
Step 1. Slide the Hold button firmly to the unlocked position (white)
Step 2. Press and hold the Center and Menu buttons at the same time
Step 3. Wait for the Apple logo to appear
The device screen will turn black and display the Apple logo. This process takes at least 8 seconds.
Step 4. Release the button you pressed
The iPod Nano will boot normally.
Tips
- If you can't force the device to restart successfully, plug the iPod Nano into a power outlet or computer for the device to charge, then try the steps above again.
- If the problem with the iPod Nano doesn't go away after you force the device to restart, you may need to restore the iPod.
