Just like Crazy Redd and Katrina, Gracie is a character who will occasionally randomly visit your town in Animal Crossing: A New Leaf. Gracie is a fashionista giraffe who really cares about your sense of style. When he meets you, he will evaluate your outfit and let you know whether you are stylish or not. The key to making him like you is only one: have style!
Step
Part 1 of 3: Getting Started
Step 1. Upgrade the shop
There is a requirement that you must meet in order for Gracie to visit your city: your shop must be on the third tier, Home Center.
- To get Home Center (T. I. Y), you have to spend 50,000 bells in the shop and wait 21 days from when you have Super T&T, the second upgrade. Once you have T. I. Y, Gracie will visit you.
- But Gracie visits very rarely, so you may not be able to visit until after a long wait. To make sure Gracie doesn't miss you, play every day and thoroughly check the area around the town square!
Step 2. Know the different clothing themes
Since Gracie will only like you if you pass her fashion check, be aware of the clothing themes she might ask you to wear. The outfit may be one of ten themes: basic, cute, historical, iconic, flashy, modern, formal, ornate, rock n'roll, or sporty.
Most clothing themes will be easy to spot
Step 3. Be aware that clothing themes can "clash"
Certain clothing themes can clash with each other. If Gracie tells you to go with a basic theme and you wear a rock 'n' roll themed outfit or flashy with another basic outfit, that would be considered a clash. Here are the clashing themes:
- Rock n' roll and flashy clash with the basic theme.
- Nothing clashes with the cute theme.
- Nothing clashes with the historical theme.
- Nothing clashes with the iconic theme.
- Official and basic clash with flashy themes.
- Nothing clashes with the modern theme.
- Sporty, rock n' roll or flashy clash with the official theme.
- Nothing clashes with the ornate theme.
- Official and basic clash with rock n' roll themes.
- Official clash with the sporty theme.
Step 4. Keep some extra clothes close at hand
Once Gracie has chosen a theme for you, you can strategize to pass her examination. For that, you should have a variety of clothing choices. You can store extra clothes on the floor of your house, or keep them on your dresser to make your home more tidy.
Part 2 of 3: Studying Outfit Theme Check
Step 1. Check the theme of your outfit
Before buying clothes, accessories, or shoes, you can get a hint about the type of theme for the busan. In Able Sister's shop, when you click on a piece of clothing by pressing "A" before selecting a dialog option, Mable will make a small comment about the outfit.
For example, he would say, “The sporty vibe of the rally tank is nice, right?”. The word "sporty" is the theme and "rally tank" is the name of the outfit. These will all change depending on what you click on
Step 2. Check the accessory theme
On the accessories side of the Able Sister store, you have to try on an accessory before Labelle tells the theme of the accessory. After you try on the accessory, Labelle will say, “Oh wow, that [name] look is great on you.” You can choose whether to buy it or not.
You can try on an accessory by standing next to it and pressing "A"
Step 3. Check the shoe theme
In Kick's shop for shoes and socks, you can simply stand next to an item and press "A", Kick will say, “Fan of the [name] look?”
Part 3 of 3: Getting Gracie to Like You
Step 1. Invite Gracie to check on you
When Gracie visits, talk to her by pressing "A". He will tell you that he can check your mode. Then it will choose a theme randomly. The clothing theme will be displayed in blue letters in the dialog.
- For example, he might say “Keep it basic!” and the basic (basic) writing is blue, meaning that is the theme that he determines and values.
- Your clothes consist of everything you wear: pants/skirts and shirts or dresses, socks, shoes, hats and accessories. Even if you can't see it, the socks will still count.
Step 2. Arrange your clothes
Once you know the theme, find and wear as many pieces of clothing that match the theme as possible.
If you can't put together a complete outfit for a given theme, you can complement it with pieces from other themes as long as the themes don't clash. It's just that most of your clothing pieces should fit the theme
Step 3. Return to Gracie
After you've put on an outfit that fits the Gracie theme, talk to Gracie again. He will then evaluate your outfit according to the specified theme.
- If you pass the inspection, it will result in an upgrade to the "Nookling Store," and Gracie will give you a stylish piece of furniture or clothing.
- You have three chances to pass the examination. If you fail a third time, you'll have to wait until Gracie's next visit. And if the check fails before midnight, Gracie will leave, and you'll have to wait until her next visit.
Tips
- If Gracie judges you're stylish four times, you can upgrade Home Center (the third upgrade from the Convenience Store "T&T Mart" you owned earlier) to a Department Store (fourth and final upgrade). Next, Gracie opened a shop on the third floor of the T&T Emporium.
- Always collect clothes from different themes so you're always ready when Gracie visits!
