Jabber (XMPP) is an open source instant messaging protocol like Whatsapp, Telegram or Facebook Messenger. Compared to other services, this protocol offers a variety of address domains so that you can make more diverse customizations. This wikiHow teaches you how to create a Jabber account.
Step
Method 1 of 2: Creating an Account
Step 1. Visit the Jabber registration website
There are many sites that allow you to create a Jabber account. Here are some websites you can visit to create an account:
-
Notes:
Registration is no longer possible on Jabber.org.
Step 2. Enter the username
Use the bar next to the "Username" label to enter a username. Usernames may contain letters or numbers, without special characters.
The size of the user name does not matter
Step 3. Select a domain or address suffix (if available)
Jabber address format is [email protected] (eg [email protected]). Some registration websites allow you to select the domain you want to use as a Jabber address extension. Meanwhile, other sites only provide one option. If you get other options, use the drop-down menu next to the username to select the desired domain.
Step 4. Enter and confirm the password
You can see two lines for entering the password. Type the password on the first line. To confirm the password, type the password entry in the second line, according to the entry you entered in the first column.
Step 5. Verify the real user
Most XMPP registration websites offer tools to verify that you are a “real” human. This tool can be a reCaptcha box that requires you to check the " I am not a robot " box or enter characters in an image to create an account. Follow the instructions shown to verify.
Step 6. Click Register
The XMPP address will be registered with the selected server. Remember the username, address and password of the account that was created.
Method 2 of 2: Accessing Account Through Jabber Manager Program
Step 1. Visit the Jabber manager program download page
You can use this program to log into your Jabber account and chat with other people via instant messages. Visit the Jabber manager program download website and look for the "Downloads" page. You can also download and install the Jabber program on your mobile device from the App Store on an iPhone or iPad, or the Google Play Store on Android. Here are some Jabber manager programs that you can download:
- PS (Windows/MacOS)
- Swift (Windows/MacOX/Linux)

Step 4. Click the option to sign in using an existing account
Each Jabber management program has its own differences. Some programs may ask you to create a specific account for the program in question first. Other programs may require you to click on certain options in order to add a new Jabber account. Meanwhile, there are also some programs that immediately display a login page where you can type in your account address and password.
Step 5. Select the option to sign in using the Jabber or XMPP protocol
Some instant messaging apps support multiple instant messaging protocols. If your program supports multiple instant messaging platforms, select the option to sign in to a Jabber or XMPP account.
Step 6. Enter the username or account address
The login page for each program is different. If you're prompted for a Jabber address, enter the full address of the account (eg [email protected]). If you're only asked to enter a username, just type in the username segment of the full address.
Step 7. Enter the domain address
If the program doesn't ask you to enter your full address on a single line, type the domain address that comes after the “@” symbol in the line labeled " Domain ", " Host ", or something similar.
Step 8. Enter the account password
Type the Jabber account password into the field labeled "Password".
Step 9. Click the login button
After entering your Jabber account information, click the button labeled "Log In", "Sign In", or something similar.
